Together with Lands CS Alice Wahome, Governor Susan Kihika presided over the issuance of 985 title deeds to internally displaced persons, squatters, and other landless beneficiaries at Kisima Farm in Njoro, Nakuru County, marking a major milestone in the county’s land tenure regularisation efforts.

The Nakuru County Government announced plans to complement the settlement with a borehole, roads, and a dispensary, while working with the national government to provide security and electricity, as surveyors move in to demarcate individual plots and the county accelerates its drive toward issuing 20,000 title deeds annually.

Guinness World Records has confirmed that 22-year-old environmentalist Truphena Muthoni has officially set the world record for the longest marathon tree-hug, lasting an incredible 72 hours.

The feat was achieved between December 8 and December 11, 2025, and was completed at the Nyeri Governor’s Office compound on Thursday at 12:25 pm. Truphena said she took on the challenge to advocate for the protection of indigenous trees and to honor the wisdom of Indigenous Peoples, whose traditions she says are central to finding lasting global climate solutions.
