Today, 31st July 2026, the World Rangers Day celebrations in the Central Rift Conservation Area commenced with a park clean-up exercise along the shores of Lake Nakuru. Staff, rangers, and community members participated in collecting litter to promote a clean, healthy ecosystem for wildlife and visitors.

The clean-up was followed by a procession from Afraha Stadium through Nakuru Town to Lake Nakuru National Park, led by the Senior Assistant Director, Central Rift Conservation Area, and accompanied by the Nakuru County Commissioner, other county officials, and distinguished guests. The procession was held to honour the dedication, bravery, and sacrifice of rangers in protecting wildlife and conserving natural resources.

The day's activities highlighted this year's theme, "Rangers: Guardians of a Changing Planet." Key messages focused on the importance of wildlife conservation, strengthening community partnerships in conservation, and promoting compliance with park rules and regulations.

The celebrations boosted the morale of rangers while raising public awareness of the vital role they play in safeguarding Kenya's wildlife, biodiversity, and natural heritage for present and future generations.

Day 3 | Wrapping up an incredible Expo experience!

As we conclude the Nakuru Trade & Tourism Expo 2026, we extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who visited our stand, engaged with us, and supported our conservation mission. It has been a pleasure sharing the work of the Kenya Wildlife Service and highlighting the importance of environmental conservation through education.

Over the past three days, we have built meaningful connections, held insightful conversations, and inspired many people to play an active role in protecting Kenya's natural heritage. Thank you to our partners, stakeholders, and every visitor who took the time to learn more about conservation.

Nakuru Trade & Tourism Expo 2026.
Today marked the second day of the Nakuru Trade & Tourism Expo 2026, held at the Rift Valley Sports Club under the theme "Connecting Trade, Tourism, and Investment for Inclusive Growth."

The KWS Lake Nakuru National Park team continued to engage members of the public, stakeholders, learners, and exhibitors by showcasing their conservation initiatives and the diverse tourism experiences available within Kenya's protected areas.

The KWS exhibition stand attracted a steady flow of visitors who were taken through the Service's conservation mandate, wildlife protection efforts, human-wildlife coexistence initiatives, and the importance of environmental stewardship.

Visitors also received information on the unique attractions of Lake Nakuru National Park and other protected areas, promoting domestic tourism while encouraging greater public participation in wildlife conservation.

The interactive sessions provided an opportunity to address questions from visitors, strengthen partnerships with fellow exhibitors, and inspire communities to play an active role in conserving Kenya's rich biodiversity.

The exhibition continues to serve as an important platform for creating awareness, promoting sustainable tourism, and showcasing KWS's contribution to national development. Join us tomorrow for the final day of the Expo.

Early this morning, the Lake Nakuru National Park (LNNP) Education Team conducted a series of in-house conservation education programs for learners visiting the park. A total of 629 learners and 27 adults participated in the day's conservation education activities, bringing the overall attendance to 656 participants.

School Breakdown
• AIC Kipchabo Primary School – 46 learners, 5 adults(51 participants)
• Sony Primary School – 38 learners (38 participants)
• St. Augustine Mukumu Boys School – 112 learners (112 participants)
• St. Joseph Girls Kitale – 327 learners, 16 adults (343 participants)
• Ibacho Secondary School – 63 learners, 3 adults (66 participants)
• Kambiti Secondary School, Meru – 43 learners, 3 adults (46 participants)

The learners were taken through key conservation topics, including the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) mandate, an overview of Lake Nakuru National Park, the importance of wildlife conservation, threats facing biodiversity, and the role of learners in environmental conservation.

The activities were conducted under the Wild Scholar Campaign, an initiative aimed at ensuring learners experience and explore the wild beyond the normal classroom environment. Through guided interactions with nature and wildlife, the campaign provides learners with practical conservation experiences that complement classroom learning while nurturing a lifelong appreciation for Kenya's natural heritage.

Learners actively participated throughout the sessions, and outstanding participants who correctly answered conservation-related questions were recognized and awarded to encourage continued interest in wildlife conservation.

Today Lake Nakuru National Park team in partnership with TJ Premier participated in the Nakuru Trade and Tourism Expo 2nd Edition under the theme "Connecting Trade, Tourism and Investment for Inclusive Growth." at Nakuru Rift Valley Sports club.

The three-day event was officially opened today by Mr. Kurgat, the Chief Officer for Cooperatives and Enterprise Nakuru County, who represented the County Executive Committee for Trade, Tourism and Wildlife, Hon. Stephen Kuria.

The Expo brought together exhibitors, government agencies, private sector players, investors and other stakeholders to showcase products, services and investment opportunities.

The event aims to promote partnerships, boost local trade, market Nakuru County as a leading tourism destination, and create opportunities that contribute to sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
