The House receives the Report of the Committee on County Public Accounts and Investment (PAIC) on the Auditor General's Report on the Examination of the Financial Statements of Molo Sub-County Level 4 Hospital for the year ended 30th June 2025. The report is to be laid by Hon. Simon Kamau Karanja, Chairperson of the Committee.

The House also receives a Notice of Motion seeking the adoption of the Committee on County Public Accounts and Investment (PAIC) Report on the Auditor General's Report on the Examination of the Financial Statements of Molo Sub-County Level 4 Hospital for the year ended 30th June 2025. The Notice of Motion is to be given by Hon. Simon Kamau Karanja, Chairperson of the Committee.

The House today receives responses to four Statements requested by Members.

The responses will be issued by the respective Committee Chairpersons. They relate to the pump testing of the Tusemezane Borehole Project in Menengai West Ward and development projects within Molo Municipality for the 2024/2025 Financial Year.

The House will also receive responses on the prolonged non-functionality of streetlights in Nakuru East Ward and Nakuru City, as well as the ownership and rent remittance of Molo County Houses.

The House considers two public petitions during this afternoon's sitting. The first petition, presented by Alvin Njoroge Kamau, a resident of London Ward, seeks the indulgence of the Assembly to ensure the establishment of fire brigade services in all the county's 11 sub-counties.

THIRD ASSEMBLY (FIFTH SESSION) HOUSE PROCEEDINGS, MORNING SESSION 21ST JULY 2026

The House resumes its sittings this morning after a one-month recess, marking the commencement of the Third Part of the 2026 Legislative Calendar.

Deputy Speaker Hon. Anthony Kanyere presides over the sitting during which a communication from Speaker Hon. Joel Karuri Maina is conveyed to the House.

In his opening remarks, the Speaker commends Members for their legislative achievements and urges committees to expedite consideration of pending business as the Assembly enters the final phase of its annual legislative calendar.

The House also receives the County Governments Budget Implementation Review Outlook Report for the First Half of the FY 2025/26 from the Office of the Controller of Budget, laid by Leader of Majority Party Hon. William Mutai.

County Assembly wraps up successful ASK Show exhibition

Curtains fell on the 2026 Nakuru ASK Show today bringing to a close five days of public engagement that saw the County Assembly showcase its constitutional mandate to hundreds of vistors.

The attendees streamed into the Assembly stand throughout the exhibition, seeking information on legislation, oversight, representation and public participation. Officers also responded to public inquiries and highlighted the Assembly's role in promoting accountable governance.

Agriculture Committee Chairperson Hon. Isabella Makori said the Assembly would continue supporting the agricultural sector through sound legislation, effective oversight and prudent budget approval.

"A strong agricultural sector begins with sound policies. The Assembly will continue to support initiatives that improve farmers' livelihoods and drive sustainable growth," she said.

Held under the theme Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth, the exhibition met its objectives by bringing the Assembly closer to wananchi and strengthening public understanding of its work.

CS Kagwe visits the Assembly Stand as 2026 ASK Show enters 3rd Day

The Nakuru County Assembly today hosted Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Mutahi Kagwe, at its exhibition stand during the official opening of the 2026 National ASK Show at the Nakuru ASK Showgrounds.

The CS toured the Assembly's stand as members of the public continued to learn about the Assembly's legislative, oversight and representation roles through interactive civic education sessions.

Speaker Joel Karuri Maina said the exhibition has provided a valuable platform for the Assembly to engage wananchi, enhance public awareness of its constitutional mandate and strengthen citizen participation in legislative processes.

"The ASK Show gives us a unique opportunity to interact directly with wananchi, explain the work of the Assembly and encourage greater public participation in governance," said Speaker Karuri.

Mary Mureithi, a farmer from Nakuru, praised the Assembly's initiative, saying the engagement had helped her better understand how public participation influences policies that affect farmers.

"I now appreciate that the Assembly is not just about passing laws. It also gives citizens an opportunity to contribute to decisions that affect our livelihoods," she said.

Peter Chebon, a youth aspiring to elective leadership, said the exhibition had deepened his understanding of the Assembly's role in governance.

"As a young person interested in leadership, this has been an eye-opening experience. It has shown me the importance of legislation, oversight and involving citizens in decision-making," he said.

The five-day exhibition, which concludes on July 5, has enabled the Nakuru County Assembly to bring its services closer to the people while promoting civic education and meaningful public engagement.

Assembly backs Climate-Smart Agriculture at Nakuru ASK Show

The Nakuru County Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the agriculture sector through legislation, oversight and budget approval as it continues engaging members of the public at the ongoing Nakuru ASK International Show.

Assembly Clerk Mr. Joseph Malinda said the House remains focused on ensuring policies and public investments translate into improved livelihoods for farmers and sustainable agricultural growth.

"Our role is to provide the legislative and oversight framework that enables agriculture to thrive and delivers value to the people of Nakuru," said Mr. Malinda.

Agriculture Committee Chairperson Hon. Isabella Makori urged farmers and the youth to embrace climate-smart farming and emerging technologies to unlock new opportunities in the sector.

"Agriculture is changing. Innovation, technology and value addition are key to increasing productivity and creating jobs, especially for our young people," said Hon. Makori.

The Assembly is among 128 exhibitors participating in this year's Nakuru ASK International Show, whose theme is "Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth."
