Earlier today, I had the privilege of visiting the Koei family in Oltepesi le Parsimei, where I received blessings from my great fathers, Iseuri and the pastors.

It was a great opportunity to interact with them, share in their wisdom, and draw from their deep knowledge and experience in leadership. Their guidance, prayers, and words of wisdom remain a great source of inspiration.

Grateful for the warm welcome and the blessings. May God continue to bless and give them strength as they guide our community.

I joined H.E. President Dr. William Samoei Ruto and ODM Party Leader Sen. Dr. Oburu Odinga, together with other national leaders, for the Joint Broad-Based Parliamentary Group, Cabinet and Governorsโ€™ Retreat in Naivasha, Nakuru County.

This retreat brings together leaders from across the broad-based Government to take stock of the progress we have achieved, strengthen coordination, and chart a shared path towards accelerating the implementation of our transformative development agenda.

It serves as a vital platform to consolidate our collective vision, reinforce unity of purpose, and reaffirm our commitment to driving Kenyaโ€™s transformation beyond the aspirations of Vision 2030. Through principled leadership and coordinated action, we remain focused on advancing inclusive growth, deepening devolution, and delivering sustainable prosperity for all Kenyans.

The deliberations underscore a profound truth: when leaders act together, guided by a common vision, Kenyaโ€™s potential is limitless. Our shared resolve is to ensure that the dividends of development reach every household, every county, and every citizen โ€” securing a future of opportunity, dignity, and shared prosperity.

Together, we move Kenya forward. ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ช

While attending to other official duties in Naivasha, Dispatched my staff members to join the great people of Entasikira in Loita Ward during the house-warming ceremony of Francisca and William Mukenga.

They also had the opportunity to support Namelok Naretoi School for the Disabled with a 5000-litre water tank, contributing to a better and more supportive learning environment for the learners.

Chaired by Hon. Julius Melly (Mp, Tinderet), The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Education, engaged the Ministry of Education, led by Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba, to scrutinize proposed reforms to Kenyaโ€™s education laws.

Among the key proposals under consideration is the Tertiary Education Placement and Funding Bill, which seeks to consolidate HELB, the Universities Fund and the TVET Funding Board into one institutionโ€”the Tertiary Education Funding Authority (TEFA).

The Bill also proposes strengthening KUCCPS as the national placement body for all tertiary institutions while ensuring that student placement and funding decisions remain separate. Admission would be based on merit, qualifications and programme choice, while financial support would be assessed independently.

Further, we considered amendments to the Basic Education Act, which seek to formally recognise heads of institutions and clearly define their roles as agents of the Principal Secretary for Basic Education in the implementation of education policies and programmes.

These reforms are geared towards improving governance, coordination, efficiency and sustainability in Kenyaโ€™s education sector.

We will continue engaging stakeholders before presenting its recommendations to the House.

As the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Education, chaired by Hon. Julius Melly, we engaged Education PS John Ololtuaa and his team from the Ministry of Education to respond to key concerns and provide updates on interventions being undertaken by the Ministry, particularly under the State Department for Basic Education.

A key concern was the payment of KNEC examination personnel. The Ministry confirmed that funds have been disbursed to the Council, with payments set to commence on Thursday, 6th August 2026.

We remain committed to ensuring accountability and better service delivery in our education sector.
