Bridging the Gap Between Research and Policy

Today, Maasai Mara University proudly hosted the Foundational Learning Policy Brief Workshop in collaboration with Education Sub Saharan Africa and Technical University of Kenya. The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Peninah Aloo- Obudho, PhD, EBS, emphasized that while access to education is vital, the quality of literacy and numeracy foundations is what truly transforms lives.

"The value of research is strengthened when evidence contributes to better decisions and better outcomes for society," noted the VC.

The goal of the workshops was to ensure that researchers don't just identify problems, but provide clear, actionable solutions that help policymakers improve education for every child. We are excited to collaborate with our partner universities and researchers to turn evidence into impact, said the V.C.

The participants were urged to think of how universities can work together to ensure that the knowledge they generate contributes meaningfully to the challenges facing our communities and our country.

FREE MEDICAL CAMP DAY ONE DONE - WHAT A DAY IT WAS!

The University took the "campus" to the community and the people of Leshuta showed up in their numbers! for the first day of the free medical camp outreach which is part of the University’s community service and the University’s visibility.

From the very first ray of sun, the queue at Leshuta Health Center told a beautiful story: a community that cares about its health, and a university that shows up for its people.

Today, the team of doctors, nurses, Community Health Volunteers and student volunteers delivered FREE health services to around 300 residents of Narok County:

• Free eye screening & care — the gift of clear sight
• Free diabetes (sugar) testing & counselling
• General medical consultations & treatment
• Health education — because prevention is the best medicine
• Referrals for those who need further care

Watching grandparents, parents and little ones walk out smiling, some learning their sugar levels for the very first time. THIS is the Maasai Mara University we are proud of: a University of New Beginnings, in service to the community.

A heartfelt thank you to our partners: Narok County government, Amref, World Visions, We World, Kenya Red Cross, Lions Sight Eye Hospital, Afyafrica, Medicatia, Dandelion Africa, Premiercare Health, Elongo Africa Initiatives, Rotary Club Of Narok, Nacosfi.
