Someone left this vehicle at our livestock offices in Ololulung'a. He/she came while we were away. We have since waited for the person to come and claim ownership but no one has shown up. Could someone be knowing the owner? We need to find out who's vehicle it is. If you know the owner please inbox us.

Public roads are transit ways for all road users including all animate beings having the right of way. The Traffic Act Cap 403 laws of Kenya regulates movement of vehicles, persons and animals on our public roads. Such animals are specifically cited by law to include cows, horses, mules, donkeys and dogs.

It is thus expected that animals crossing or moving along public roads are treated with due care. On animal crossing areas, motorists and other road users are advised to respect animal’s right of way by exercising caution while driving.

Recklessness includes acts of cruelty to animals as outlined in the Penal Code. Instances where animals are cruelly handled by humans, and more so on public roads is unlawful and punishable. We should, as responsible citizens, treat animals under our respective charge with care and love.

NPS therefore condemns the act portrayed in the picture shared in the Sunday Standard 22nd May 2022 where a heifer is transported cruelly on a motorbike.
