A tiny life with bright eyes and boundless curiosity just joined us.

The team from Kenya Wildlife Service brought us a baby Large-spotted Genet Cat rescued from the community around Aberdare Range. Only a few days old, he arrived fragile and in need of specialized care.

We’ve named him Dudu.

Despite his size, Dudu already has a big personality. He’s playful, curious, and surprisingly bold for such a tiny creature. With careful feeding, warmth, and round-the-clock monitoring, we will support him through these critical early days.

Our goal is simple: rehabilitation and release. We will give Dudu the strength and skills he needs to grow wild and independent, just as nature intended.

To love is to protect.

On a day dedicated to love, we’re reminded that our greatest commitment is to the survival of every orphan in our care.

True love isn’t just a feeling, it’s showing up, day and night, to nurture, protect, and give each rescued life a second chance in the wild.

Your support keeps their hearts beating and their future bright.

Happy Valentine’s Day from the Solio Rhino Orphanage team.

Big confidence. Maisha always leading the way back from their routine sanctuary walk for milk time.

Pure joy for Maisha as she enjoys her milk. In her eyes is trust, in her bottle is hope - a small moment with a big impact.
Lovingly fed by her devoted carer, Benjamin, this quiet ritual is about far more than nourishment. It's about patience, protection, and the bond that gives Maisha the best possible start on her journey back to the wild.

Njamba & Zawadi update 🦏
These two are making steady progress in their rehabilitation and now spend most parts of their day out in the sanctuary alongside other wildlife, growing stronger as they prepare for the life they’ll return to someday.

Recovery Update | Ruka’s Journey

You may remember Ruka, our resilient Thomson’s gazelle.

It has been two months since playtime with Kisima (one of our rewilded male impalas who still calls the orphanage home), took an unexpected turn, resulting in Ruka injuring his leg.

Thanks to swift Solio veterinary team's response, Ruka was treated and placed in a cast, beginning a careful road to recovery. After nearly two months of rest, close monitoring, and dedicated care from the team at the Orphanage, we’re happy to share that Ruka’s cast was successfully removed today.

This milestone marks a significant moment in Ruka's healing journey. Stories like these remind us why constant care, patience, and compassion are at the heart of everything we do.

Thank you for following along and supporting our orphans every step of the way.
