CEC Member for Public Health and Medical Services, Hon. Grace Osewe, held a strategic engagement with the Facility Management Committee of Muga Jwelu Dispensary, reaffirming the County Government of Homa Bay’s commitment to revitalizing and operationalizing health facilities to better serve communities.
The meeting brought together community leaders and stakeholders, including members of the Rotary network, following a commitment by the Rotary Club of USA through the Rotary Club of Kisumu to support the facility’s completion and infrastructure improvement works. Proposed support areas include fencing, painting, electricity connectivity, water reticulation and solarization.
The discussions also focused on key interventions required to make the facility fully functional, including staffing, equipping, operationalization, medical supplies, training for personnel and the hospital management committee, support for Community Health Promoters, strategic planning and development of a collaboration framework.
Muga Jwelu Dispensary, which has remained stalled since 2022, serves over 10 villages and is expected to play a critical role in improving maternal and child health outcomes in the area. Stakeholders emphasized the urgent need to establish maternity services and strengthen ANC and immunization uptake amid rising default rates.
Hon. Grace Osewe commended the community for their initiative, unity and determination to restore the facility, assuring them of the County Government’s support in engaging development partners, facilitating approvals and certifications, and strengthening healthcare investments aimed at improving service delivery across Homa Bay County.
