Comforting God, our hearts are heavy as we lift up the Utumishi Girls community in this time of immense sorrow.
We pray for the families who have tragically lost their precious daughters; wrap them in Your embrace and grant them peace that surpasses all understanding.
Heal the wounded, strengthen the brokenhearted, and carry this school through the darkest of days.
Amen.

It starts with a thought.

Then anxiety builds.
You try to calm it.
You repeat something to feel okay.

For a moment… it works.

Then the cycle starts again.

That’s how OCD traps many people.

Not because they want it
But because their mind won’t let go

If this feels familiar, you don’t have to keep going in circles.

It’s not just overthinking.

It’s the same thought… again and again.
The constant doubt.
The urge to check, repeat, and “make sure”

Even when you know it doesn’t make sense.

That’s what OCD can feel like.

And it can quietly affect your peace, your time, and your daily life.

You don’t have to keep managing it alone.

Most people think OCD is about being neat or organized.

It’s not.

OCD is often invisible.
It shows up as intrusive thoughts that won’t go away
And behaviors done just to feel a little relief

For many, it looks like:
Constant doubt
Rechecking things
Overwhelming anxiety
Mental exhaustion

And the hardest part?
People don’t always understand it.

The more we learn, the better we support.

If this resonates with you or someone you know, you’re not alone.

Sometimes it’s not that you don’t care.

It’s that:

* You forget things unintentionally
* You struggle to stay present
* You react before thinking

And over time, it starts affecting your relationship.

Many people don’t realize that ADHD can show up in relationships like this.

Not as hyperactivity
…but as emotional disconnection, overwhelm, and repeated conflict.

The good news is:
Once you understand it, things can change.

If this feels familiar, it might be time to talk to someone who understands.

Myth: People with ADHD can’t focus.

Reality: Many people with ADHD can focus intensely, especially on things that are interesting or stimulating. This is called hyperfocus.

The real challenge is not the ability to focus. It is regulating where attention goes and when to shift it.

Someone with ADHD might spend hours deeply focused on one task, yet struggle to start or stay focused on another task that feels less stimulating.

Understanding this difference helps us move away from stereotypes and toward a clearer picture of how ADHD actually works.

“You just need to try harder.”

Many people with ADHD grow up hearing this over and over again. Teachers, parents, and even friends may assume the problem is effort or discipline.

But for many individuals, the real challenge is not motivation. It is how the brain processes attention, tasks, and information.

Because ADHD can look like distraction, forgetfulness, or inconsistency, it is often missed or misdiagnosed, especially in adults.

When we shift from telling people to try harder to actually understanding ADHD, we open the door to the right support, tools, and compassion.

Awareness is where change begins.
