World Water Day National Celebrations, Meru County

At a time when heavy rains have caused devastating destruction not only Kenya but across many countries in the world, the World Water Day is a converging platform for national and global leaders, water professionals and communities to reflect on better water solutions and utilisation.

Today, we marked the World Water Day National Celebrations in Igembe North, Meru County, a convergence organised by the Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Eric Mugaa and attended by leaders from government, corporate and non-state actors.

PRESIDENT RUTO OFFICIATES THE OPENING OF THE 60TH HUDUMA CENTRE, KIMILILI, BUNGOMA COUNTY

As part of government's deliberate effort to enhance access to critical public services across the country, today the President H.E William Samoei Ruto officially opened the Huduma Centre — Kimilili, Bungoma County, becoming the 60th one-stop shop for government services, in a network of highly visited Huduma centres in Kenya.

Alongside colleague Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Hon. Wycliffe Oparanya, Principal Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development Dr. Jane Kere Imbunya, the Governor for Bungoma H.E Ken Lusaka, the area Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa, Huduma Kenya team led by the Chief Executive Officer Ben Kai Chilumo and other leaders, we accompanied the President in the opening ceremony.

The people Kimilili and neighboring constituencies will no longer travel to faraway Huduma Centres to access timely and quality government services. The government has deployed competent citizen-centric service providers at the Kimilili Huduma Centre to serve Kenyans.

The Huduma Centre — Kimilili is a success story of collaboration between the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) under the patronage of the area of Member of Parliament Hon. Barasa and the Ministry of Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes through Huduma Kenya.

The government is committed to providing citizen-centric public services across the country. Huduma Kenya is at the heart of accelerating quality, efficient and effective access to government services in one-stop shops, Huduma Centres.

This afternoon, the President H.E William Samoei Ruto will open the 60th Huduma Centre in Kenya, which is now complete in Kimilili Constituency, Bungoma County through collaboration between the Ministry of Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes and the Kimilili National Government Constituency Development Fund under the patronage of Hon. Didmus Barasa.

The people of Meru are development-minded and have continually chosen economic transformation over empty rhetoric propagated by enemies of progress.

While speaking to the people of South Imenti today during a Sunday Service at the East African Pentecostal Church — Igoji, Meru County, I was categorical that those who failed to serve Kenyans dutifully when in office cannot now pretend to be counsellors of the people on development.

I urged the people of Meru to shun the enemies of progress whose only agenda mislead and misrepresent the voice of the majority of Kenyans.
