THIS MAN DR. WILLIAM SOMOEI RUTO
Part One:
The man that ails from SUGOI has been at it for sometime now, a fire brand politician who has risen through the ranks to become a household name in the Kenyan political sphere.
In 1992 and the time Kenya was birthing multiparty, a new political ideology, an ideology was in the same time taking shape and sizing up political space when he walked into the Y92 offices at KICC, then a very young man but apparently cognizant of the future. Methinks that proverbial saying that “youths are the leaders of today and tomorrow for a progressive society” rang true for him and he jostled for his space to be counted among the very few young men of his time/generation who at this age were already grounded in vision and mission about what the future would look like, in this sense – the Kenya I want- and would be key players in influencing circumstances politically towards realization of the Golden Dream.
I bet many a politician of that time didn’t see the political seed that was being planted in the Kenyan political landscape, what they saw was a skinny young man and that was about it – ordinary. A few years down the line when the elections bell rang in 1997, the hardly known skinny young man, won the hearts and minds of the people of the greater North Rift with his unmatched oratorial skills. captured their imagination and inspired hope among the electorates. He mounted a campaign, the kind that was new to that part of the world, that was based on tangible ideal and ideology, practical and related to the people, stirred up political emotions and from it sprung out a new beckon light of hope. The culmination, he was elected member of parliament for the constituency ELDORET NORTH, and this marked the beginning of a journey. A journey that will be best described with the saying “if you want to go fast, walk alone but if you want to go far never walk alone’
