A Good Result From The Field 🐘🌿

⚠️ Video shows a serious wound.

Yesterday morning, our rangers on patrol spotted an elephant bull suffering from a deep cable-wire snare wound around its left hind leg.

By evening, we had good news — the bull had been successfully treated, thanks to the dedicated Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and Sheldrick Wildlife Trust veterinary teams, working in coordination with our Sanctuary Manager.

Snares do not discriminate. They can cause immense suffering to wildlife and, if left untreated, can be fatal.

That is why our anti-poaching teams continue to walk tens of kilometres every month, tirelessly patrolling the Sanctuary and removing snares before they claim another victim.

Every snare removed is a life potentially saved. Every patrol matters. Every animal counts. 🐘💚

🦓 Think you know zebras? Think again!

Here are 5 weird facts that might surprise you:

🖤 No two zebras have the same stripe pattern, each one is as unique as a fingerprint.

🪰 Their stripes may actually help keep annoying biting flies away.

👶 A newborn zebra memorizes its mother’s stripes within hours of being born so it never gets lost.
