๐ผ) on its long-standing collaboration with JICA! ๐ข
Over nearly four decades, this partnership has contributed significantly to advancing forestry and environmental conservation in Kenya's dry and semi-arid lands. ๐ฑ Through research, capacity development, the production of high-quality tree seedlings ๐ณ, and improved access to water resources ๐ง, these efforts have also helped strengthen local livelihoods and climate resilience.
One notable achievement has been the ๐ง๐ต๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฑ ๐๐ผ๐๐ป๐๐ฟ๐ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐บ๐บ๐ฒ (๐ง๐๐ง๐ฃ) ๐ค, through which forestry and environmental professionals from across Africa ๐ have come to Kenya to exchange knowledge and share practical experiences in dryland forestry and ecosystem conservation.
During the recent visit, JICA and KEFRI signed the Minutes of Meeting (MM) for a new TCTP that will run from 2026 to 2030 ๐. This program will be disseminating knowledge on breeding for indigenous tree species to various Countries across Sub-Saharan Africa, an expertise that KEFRI has developed over the years partly through JICA support. ๐๐ฑ In the meeting, two organizations also exchanged views on future collaboration to promote sustainable forest management and climate action across the region.
JICA remains committed to working with Kenya and other African countries to build sustainable and resilient communities through knowledge sharing and partnership. ๐ฟโจ
