Governor H.E Ahmed Ali Muktar together with the Deputy Governor, H.E Hashim Musa Yussuf and FCDC CEO Mohamed Gulleid, flagged off new Water bowser trucks for water trucking exercise across sub-counties in response to the prevailing severe drought situation.

Wajir County has experienced depressed rains that could not culminate the drought situation. Hence, the need for urgent interventions.

"As part of our response plans to the current situation, We have managed to repair all serviceable water bowsers, that is twelve (12) operational trucks serving across the County." Governor Ahmed Mukhtar.

On the same, the Governor said that the County government has hired 34 private trucks to support the water trucking exercise.

"From the above experience, we opted to purchase four (4) more water bowsers as this will reduce the burden on Women, children and pastoralists in fetching water from far flung areas." Added the Governor.

Additionally, the Governor stated that during this four (4) days left for the voter registration period, the County government will be trucking water to centres where people will converge and can easily access the voter registration services.

"My Government is committed to put in place measures that will enhance heightened drought mitigations as the dry spell is expected to worsen from mid-February." Governor Ahmed Ali Mukhtar.
