Re: Official visit by Central Bank Governor Dr. Patrick Njoroge to wajir County.
Central Bank of Kenya Dr. Patrick Njoroge had a working tour within Wajir County from 1 50 pm. He was Received well by the CSIC and SCSIC security team.
Upon arrival the governor paid a courtesy call to the office of County Commissioner Mr. Loyford Kibaara and later to the Wajir County Governors' Office, where he was received by the County Secretary.

visited Soko mjinga market, and addressed a members of public
The CBK Governor spoke on the following issues.
1. The CBK is proactive in addressing banking and monetary issues, with the public and thats why the bank is organising outreaches in the counties, in the spirit of public participation. He said he was on a mission to sensitize the public on the new currency notes indicating that people should change there old notes by September 30th
2. The people of wajir (small scale traders) are very enterprising and must be supported whenever necessary.
3. Efforts are being made to enable more players such as banks and microfinance institutions, to offer banking products that are compliant with Islamic Religion beliefs ( Sharia compliant).
4. Security agencies have done a commendable job, that have enabled the business to thrive.
5. There are plans to table regulations in support Islamic Banking and asked members of parliament for support.
The central Bank Governor was joined by the Senator wajir County and Hon. Rashid of wajir East.
