“When I was a child, I cycled 30 kilometers to school, often facing broken chains and long, difficult days. Because of these challenges, I could only complete Grade 7. I don’t want today’s children to face the same struggles. My heartfelt wish is for them to study as far as they can, think beyond short-term limitations, and build better futures with stable, meaningful jobs,” says Nat Na Rom, School Community Member of Kranhoung Senchey High School.

From a Tin-Roofed School to a Growing Center of Hope: Kratie Province
---
Kranhoung Sen Chey High School started with a single tin-roofed building, only 80 students, and very limited facilities. Today, it boasts three sturdy new buildings, well-trained teachers and school leaders, strong community support, and an enrollment of more than 700 students.

Without access to secondary education, those children faced severely limited job prospects—often inheriting the same cycle of poverty as their parents.

A place to stay, A chance to learn: Ratanakiri Province
-----
Every other Sunday, 15-year-old Chheng Sodalin packs her bag with rice, vegetables, and fruit and leaves her remote village, traveling hours along a dirt road to reach school. There, she stays in a modest dormitory at Anteveasikthan High School in Ratanakiri Province—far from home and family, but closer to her dream of becoming a nurse.

As a student from the Tumpoun indigenous group, Sodalin has lived in the dormitory since she began Grade 7, four years ago. Her village is nearly 70 kilometers from the school, and with no public transport available, her father makes the journey to collect her during holidays. Her mother was the driving force behind this sacrifice. She herself dropped out in Grade 9 when her family could no longer afford school and is determined her daughter can go further.
