Siem Reap Water Supply Authority Names New Leadership as Long-Serving Director General Retires

SIEM REAP, July 9, 2026 — The Siem Reap Water Supply Authority (SRWSA) today held a ceremony to officially hand over leadership and appoint a new Director General. The event was presided over by H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation.

Mr. Siek Pengkeang was appointed by the Royal Government as Director General of SRWSA for the seventh mandate, succeeding Mr. Chan Sengla, who retired after more than three decades of service with the authority.

Phnom Penh, July 8, 2026 — H.E. HEM Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, today met with Mr. Guangzhe Chen, Vice President for Planet at the World Bank Group,
to review Cambodia's water sector reform agenda, strengthen sector governance, and accelerate the implementation of ongoing projects aimed at achieving universal access to clean water by 2030.

The meeting focused on Cambodia's Water Security Compact, the establishment of an independent water supply regulator, progress on World Bank-financed projects,
and expanding water infrastructure to support Cambodia's rapidly growing industrial sector.

today for the 2nd ASEAN-India Women Scientists Conclave, launching a three-day forum aimed at advancing women's leadership and addressing persistent barriers in science, technology and innovation (STI).

Co-organized by Cambodia's Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI) and the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar, with support from the ASEAN-India Science & Technology Development Fund (AISTDF),
the conclave is held under the theme "Building Inclusive STI Communities." Discussions focus on four priority areas: food security, sustainable energy, equitable education, and emerging technologies.

The two sides discussed potential cooperation to strengthen Cambodia's NQI to support the implementation of the Cambodia–UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), helping reduce technical barriers to trade and facilitate the movement of goods between the two countries.

Phnom Penh, July 6, 2026 — The Food Testing Laboratories Committee today held its fourth meeting to review progress in developing Cambodia's national network of Reference and Official Food Testing Laboratories, continuing efforts to strengthen food safety, improve laboratory quality, and build greater confidence in food testing nationwide.
