We are being asked as a community to embrace a situation and to be sympathetic to the fact that our schools are not open on time endangering our children’s future and the future of Nevis.
Is this because of an emergency, or some sort of epidemic or mass illness or a natural disaster? Like so many of our neighbors who have been ravaged by hurricane Irma and now left in the rubble of its aftermath. They have a logical explanation but what plausible explanation does this government has?
Let me take this moment to empathize with our citizens aboard and all those affected by this and NRP is joining in the relief effort by organizing basic necessities and water to Anguilla and St. Martin on Sunday and Monday respectively.
So what are their excuses? This falls square and directly at the feet of this government and the Minister of Education, Premier Vance Amory.
This is embarrassing!! A slap in the face yet another time.
The month of September is a very significant month and it happens to be my birth month but it is also the start of the school year; it is when children are making a transition in their life, to meet a new frontier
Going to a new school
Going to a new class
First day of primary school or high school or college
In our Nations history, September is also a significant month in our calendar, as we succeeded in being an independent state, capable of looking after ourselves and securing a future for children and all who regard themselves as Nevisians. This pride as a country is sadly being eroded by acts like these!!
To go further CCM has managed to create a situation where parents are frustrated .Instead of being assured that their children will be taken care of in a secure and stable school environment, parents are now in a situation where they have to figure out how these children will be cared for during the work day? They have to find someone or somewhere to leave their children with when they are headed out to work. Although a new date was announced for particular grades, are we certain that the schools will be ready?
This should never be! Having first hand knowledge of all the school’s curriculum and modus operandi, the ministries know what they have to do and the time frame available to start and complete projects. Obviously the development of our educational facilities is not a priority. And even further the education of our children is not a priority for the CCM team, otherwise all of these would have been done in a timely manner. This clearly demonstrates the no care attitude, incompetence (to your hearts content), and ineptitude (to the max) of this CCM government. This Thoughtlessness and Poor planning, especially at the expense of our educational foundation is unacceptable. I hope they will compensate the teachers who will have to provide extra classes and go beyond the call of duty in order to play catch up .
Nevisians we can change all this, when elections are called say no to this worthless government and vote NRP.
