🔥The wildfires in South Korea are growing, with nearly 7000 hectares of forest destroyed. Over 2600 emergency personnel and 57 helicopters are battling the flames under a declared state of emergency.
Today, the European Firecats have deployed their second Super Puma helicopter to support operations, equipped to drop 4200 liters of water per flight.

Crews are working tirelessly from dawn until late evening to contain the disaster.🤝

The European Firecats have returned to South Korea to combat severe that have claimed multiple lives and displaced over 1500 residents. Authorities have declared a state of disaster and mobilized all available resources.

The European Firecats are working closely with local fire and forestry teams, deploying advanced Airbus AS332 Super Puma helicopters to fight the blazes from the air around the clock.🤝

The wildfires have spread rapidly due to dry winds and ongoing drought, destroying approximately 3300 hectares of forest.

Forest fires can be caused by a variety of factors, including high temperatures, prolonged drought and strong winds, which together create dry conditions that make it easier for vegetation to burn. Also a discarded cigarette can cause forest fires. 🤝

High ranking officials visit our base. The European Firecats base in Damyang was visited by Nam Sung-Hyeon, Minister of the Korean Forest Service (8th from left). He thanked us for the support of the local firefighting helicopter units and said: "Please continue to be well prepared so that we can respond and extinguish forest fires quickly. As the weather gets warmer, more people will be out and about over the weekend.»

Hi, we are the European Firecats, a joint venture of Lions Air Group🇨🇭and Heli Austria🇦🇹. We are currently operating in South Korea and supporting the firefighting helicopter units there with our crews and our AS332 Super Pumas. We are pleased to be able to contribute our expertise to firefighting and thus to the safety and protection of people and the environment.
