아시아뉴질랜드재단의 비즈니스 인턴십 프로그램을 통해 CJ문화재단에서 인턴으로 일하고 있는 뉴질랜드에서 온 애비와 진저레이를 환영해요.

사라 맥도웰 공관차석은 어제 대사관에서 이들을 만나 한국에서의 경험에 대해 이야기를 나눴어요.

🇳🇿🤝🇰🇷 견고한 파트너십은 견고한 관계에서 시작됩니다.

어제 던 베넷 대사는 국방무관 롭 로프터스 대령, 조수현 정무관과 함께 송석준 신임 국회 외교통일위원회 위원장을 면담했습니다.

이번 만남은 뉴질랜드와 대한민국 간의 굳건한 유대를 재확인하고, 앞으로 양국 협력을 더욱 심화할 방안을 논의하는 소중한 기회였습니다. 특히 송 위원장이 위원장 취임 후 첫 출장으로 최근 뉴질랜드를 포함한 방문에서 관계자들과 만난 직후 이루어진 자리라는 점에서 더욱 뜻깊었습니다.

송 위원장님, 취임을 축하드립니다. 뉴질랜드와 대한민국의 관계를 한층 더 발전시키기 위해 앞으로도 긴밀히 협력해 나가길 기대합니다.

Yesterday, Ambassador Bennet, accompanied by Defence Attaché Colonel Rob Loftus and Policy Adviser Susan Cho, met with Song Seog-jun, the newly appointed Chair of the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee.

The meeting was a valuable opportunity to reaffirm our strong ties and discuss ways to deepen cooperation in the years ahead, especially coming after Chair Song’s first travel since his appointment as Committee Chair, including to New Zealand to meet with his counterparts.

Congratulations on your appointment, Chair Song. We look forward to working together to further strengthen New Zealand-Korea relations.

던 베넷 대사는 지난달 대사관에서 재뉴질랜드 ‘한·뉴경제협의회(KNZBC)‘ 대표단을 맞이했습니다.

가레스 콜먼 회장, 사이먼 브리지스 명예회장(오클랜드 비즈니스 상공회의소 대표), 손다희 전무이사, 조쉬 김 부대표는 던 베넷 대사와 케이틀린 고긴 일등서기관을 만나 🇳🇿🇰🇷 양국의 경제·무역 관계를 더욱 강화하고 비즈니스 연계를 확대할 수 있는 기회에 대해 논의했어요.

이번 방문은 KNZBC가 10여년 만에 처음으로 추진한 서울 리더십 미션의 일환으로, 대표단은 대한상공회의소(KCCI)와 한국경제인협회(FKI)를 비롯한 한국의 주요 비즈니스 단체는 물론, 뉴질랜드 무역산업진흥청, 뉴질랜드 교육진흥청, 뉴질랜드 관광청, 뉴질랜드상공회의소 등 한국 내 뉴질랜드 관련 기관들과도 회의를 가졌습니다.

🇳🇿🇰🇷 Strengthening New Zealand–Korea business connections 🤝

Ambassador Bennet welcomed a delegation from the New Zealand-based Korea New Zealand Business Council (KNZBC) to the Embassy last month.

Chair Gareth Coleman, Hon. Simon Bridges (CEO, Auckland Business Chamber), Executive Director Dahee Sohn, and Deputy Director Josh Kim met with Ambassador Bennet and First Secretary Caitlin Goggin to discuss 🇳🇿🇰🇷 economic and trade relations and opportunities to deepen business links.

The visit marked KNZBC’s first Seoul Leadership Mission in more than a decade, with meetings across Korea’s business community, including the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI), as well as New Zealand’s network in Korea, including NZTE, Invest New Zealand, Education New Zealand, Tourism New Zealand, and the Kiwi Chamber Korea.

We value KNZBC’s work to strengthen New Zealand–Korea business ties and look forward to continued collaboration. 🇳🇿🇰🇷🤝

던 베넷 대사와 대사관 팀은 이번 주 대사관에서 윤원습 농림축산식품부 농업정책관의 예방을 받고, 참가 학생들을 환영하는 오리엔테이션을 개최하게 되어 매우 기뻤어요.

Through the Korea Young Agribusiness Challenger Programme—an education cooperation initiative under the Korea–New Zealand FTA—20 students from five Korean university teams, majoring in agriculture and livestock studies, will travel to New Zealand to learn from the country’s innovative agribusiness sector.

Ambassador Bennet and the Embassy team were pleased to welcome MAFRA Director-General Yoon Won-sup and the students to the Embassy this week for a courtesy call and an orientation session ahead of their departure.

포항 도구해안에서 한미 양국 군의 ‘2026 연합합동지속지원훈련(CJLOTS)’을 참관했습니다. 또한 박용선 포항시장을 만나 포항시와 뉴질랜드 간 관계 강화 방안을 논의했습니다. 🤝

포항의 랜드마크인 📍 포스코의 혁신과 제철 유산을 보여주는 ‘파크1538’과 핫플 ‘스페이스워크’도 방문했어요.

🇳🇿🇰🇷 From observing a military exercise to meeting with the Mayor 🤝, Ambassador Bennet and the Embassy team enjoyed a memorable visit to Pohang last week. 🌊✨

At Dogu Beach, they observed the CJLOTS 26 exercise, where Republic of Korea and US personnel trained side by side. The team also met with Mayor Park Yong-sun to discuss ways to further strengthen ties between Pohang and New Zealand. 🤝

The visit wrapped up with stops at two of Pohang’s iconic landmarks 📍: Park1538, which showcases POSCO’s innovation and steelmaking heritage, and the breathtaking Space Walk.

용산 전쟁기념관에서는 현재 뉴질랜드 참전용사들을 포함한 한국전 참전용사들을 기리는 감동적인 사진전이 열리고 있으며, 이번 주 던 베넷 대사와 국방무관 롭 로프터스 대령이 이 사진전을 찾았습니다. 🇳🇿🇰🇷

사진작가 라미 현의 렌즈를 통해, 베넷 대사와 로프터스 대령은 뉴질랜드에서 촬영된 강렬한 인물 사진 속에 담긴 이야기를 가진 우리의 훌륭한 일부 참전용사들과 연결되었습니다.

More than 6,000 New Zealanders served in Korea, answering the call to defend freedom far from home.

The War Memorial of Korea is currently honouring Korean War veterans including New Zealand veterans through a moving photo exhibition, visited by Ambassador Bennet and Defence Attaché Colonel Rob Loftus this week. 🇳🇿🇰🇷

Through the lens of photographer Rami Hyun, they connected with some of our remarkable veterans whose stories are reflected in powerful portraits captured in New Zealand.

As we remember the courage, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of these brave people, we are reminded of the deep bonds forged between New Zealand and Korea that continue to this day.

The exhibition, organised by Korean company LIG, is open at the War Memorial of Korea until 26 July 2026.

🏎️🇳🇿 Kiwi talent on the track in Korea!

Exciting news! New Zealand’s rising racing star, Liam Sceats, is currently in Korea to compete in the 2026 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia at Inje Speedium, Gangwon Province, on Saturday, 18 July, as part of the 2026 Gangwon International Motor Festa. 🏎️🏁

Ambassador Bennet very much enjoyed catching up with Liam in Seoul before the race to wish him all the best and show support for his Korean racing adventure. We hope he can return to Korea soon for a longer visit so more people can meet him!
