H.E. Ambassador Prof. Emmy Jerono Kipsoi welcomed Mr. Paul Mbole, the P4G National Platform Liaison for Kenya and Associate Partner at Baca Development Partners, to the Embassy during his visit to Seoul.

Through P4G ( Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030), Mr. Mbole supports partnerships that advance green growth and climate action in Kenya, helping connect climate-focused businesses and startups with opportunities for investment, innovation and international collaboration.

Building on his visit to Korea, Mr. Mbole is also exploring opportunities for Kenyan coffee in the Korean market. The Embassy has facilitated meetings with potential Korean buyers, creating an opportunity to introduce Kenyan coffee to new partners and explore potential business linkages.

Advancing Kenya–Korea Defence Cooperation 🇰🇪🇰🇷

Kenya and the Republic of Korea continue to deepen cooperation across defence and other strategic sectors.

This morning, H.E. Ambassador Prof. Emmy Jerono Kipsoi welcomed the Principal Secretary for Defence, Patrick Mariru - PS Defence for a courtesy call ahead of his participation in the Seoul Defence Dialogue (SDD) 2026.

Their meeting focused on opportunities to strengthen cooperation in the military and defence industries, while also reflecting on the broader Kenya–Korea partnership across trade,technology, and other area

The Principal Secretary also briefed the Ambassador on his upcoming engagements at the Seoul Defence Dialogue, where Kenya will join international partners in exchanging perspectives on emerging security and defence issues.

The Mission welcomes continued engagements that deepen Kenya–Republic of Korea cooperation across defence and other strategic sectors. 🇰🇪🤝🇰🇷

🇰🇪🏝️🇰🇷 A little piece of Lamu has arrived in Yeosu!

From intricately carved wooden doors and traditional craftsmanship to Swahili dress, maritime heritage and henna art, visitors to the 2026 World Island Exhibition Yeosu Korea can experience the culture and character of Kenya’s historic Lamu County.

At the Global Exchange Pavilion (국제교류섬), Lamu is showcasing the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Lamu Old Town, its distinctive Swahili heritage, architecture and coastal traditions. Visitors can also enjoy henna hand painting and try on traditional attire, bringing the experience of Kenya’s coast a little closer to Korea.

H.E. Ambassador Prof. Emmy Jerono Kipsoi attended the official opening ceremony on Saturday evening as the Exhibition opened under the theme “ISLAND, Connecting the Ocean and the Future.”

On Thursday afternoon, Deputy Head of Mission Amb. David Karanja visited the Embassy of Nepal in Seoul to sign the Book of Condolence following the devastating flash floods in the Bhote Koshi River on 26 August 2026, which resulted in significant loss of life, displacement and destruction.

On behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Kenya, the Deputy Head of Mission conveyed heartfelt condolences and solidarity with the Government and people of Nepal, particularly the families who lost loved ones and all those affected by the disaster.

Kenya stands in solidarity with Nepal during this difficult time and wishes strength and resilience to the affected communities as recovery efforts continue.

Waste is often seen as a challenge, but could it also become part of the solution? ♻️

H.E. Ambassador Prof. Emmy Jerono Kipsoi attended a conference presentation by Ms. Margaret Wangari Mwangi of Kenya’s Ministry of Education – State Department for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), who is currently pursuing her Master’s degree at Incheon National University as a KOICA scholarship recipient.

Ms. Mwangi presented her research on the feasibility of converting organic and plastic waste into Dimethyl Ether (DME) as a clean cooking fuel in Kenya. The research explores how waste-to-energy technology could contribute to improved waste management, cleaner cooking alternatives and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

A key aspect of the research is the potential for technology and knowledge transfer between Korea and Kenya, including technical training and local capacity building to support the adoption and management of such technologies.

The presentation highlighted the value of education, research and innovation in developing solutions that respond to Kenya’s environmental and sustainable development priorities. 🇰🇪🤝🇰🇷
