문화체육관광부가 주최하고, (재)예술경영지원센터가 주관하는 2014세계문화페스티벌이 2014년 12월 10일(수)부터 14일(일)까지 아트선재센터에서 개최됩니다. 올해 처음으로 개최되는 본 행사는 주한 독일, 영국, 이탈리아, 체코, 프랑스, 중국 6개국 문화원이 협력하여 각 국의 “젊은 창작자”를 주제로 진행되며, 주한 외국문화원 간의 문화예술 분야 교류•협력을 증진시키고, 관람객들이 각국의 다양한 문화를 체험할 수 있는 기회를 마련하고자 합니다. 이번 행사를 통해 주한 외국 문화원 간 협력이 더욱 긴밀해지고, 관객들에게 각 문화원에서 진행하고 있는 다양한 문화사업을 소개하여 각국의 다양한 문화를 알릴 수 있는 계기가 되기를 희망합니다. rts, and Tourism of Korea and organized by Korea Arts Management Service, World Cultures 2014 will take place at Art Sonje Center from 10 to 14 December, 2014. Opening for the first time this year under the theme of "Young Creators," this festival works together with the Foreign Cultural Institutes in Korea of Germany, the UK, Italy, Czech Republic, France, and China, strengthening their culture and art exchange and cooperation, as well as allowing participants of the festival to experience the diversity of the different nations' cultures. We hope that through World Cultures 2014, the ties among the different Foreign Cultural Institutes in Korea will become more intimate, and that, as they present their different cultural enterprises to the participants, the various cultures of the different countries will be introduced.

2014세계문화페스티벌의 마지막 날이 벌써 다가왔습니다. 영화 상영과 부스 전시는 진행되고 있고, 빅게임 프로그램 '빙 파우스트 - 엔터 메피스토'가 1시에 다시 열립니다.

이번 세계문화페스티벌의 주된 주제가 '젊은 창작자'였습니다. 독일에서 젊은 창작자로 선발된 영화 감독 얀 올레 게르스터의 영화 이 오늘 5시에 축제에서 마지막 상영을 합니다. 이 영화를 보실 수 있는 마지막 기회인 만큼 아트선재센터로 서둘러 오세요.^^ 영화 상영 직후 게르스터 감독의 내한으로 이루어지는 '관객과의 대화' 토크 세션이 6시 40분에 진행됩니다. 영화 관람하신 다음에 게르스터 감독에게 영화와 창작 활동에 대해서 묻고 싶으신 모든 것을 직접 물어보세요.^^ 자유로운 대화의 시간입니다.

The last day of World Cultures 2014 has already arrived. Film screening and the booth exhibit have kicked off, and the big game program 'Being Faust - Enter Mephisto' will begin again at 1pm.

The main theme of World Cultures 2014 was 'Young Creators.' The film , by director Jan Ole Gerster, who was selected from Germany for World Cultures as a young creator, will begin its final screening at 5pm. Since this is your last opportunity to see this film, please hurry to Art Sonje Center and come watch :) Right after the screening of a 'Guest Visit' talk session with Director Gerster, who will be personally visiting the festival from Germany, will take place. After viewing the film, please come to the talk session to ask the director anything about the film and his creative activity that you would like to ask. This is a time for free talking.

It's a wonderful weekend! World Cultures 2014's last two days are unfolding today and tomorrow. How are you going to spend your weekend? Why don't you spend it by participating with us in the festival's enlightening as well as fun culture and arts programs?

Take a look around at the theme zone exhibit that has been set up according to the different culture and arts of the participating nations, and don't miss the foreign movies , , , and that are lined up for today. Starting from 1pm, the big game program combining digital technology with real experience, 'Being Faust - Enter Mephisto,' takes place, and at at 7pm, a talk session with the creator of 'Being Faust,' Nolgong president Peter Lee, as well as the Director of the Goethe Institut Korea, Dr. Stefan Dreyer, follows. For those who can't make it to 'Being Faust - Enter Mephisto' today, the game takes place again tomorrow (Sun) at 1pm, so don't miss out on your chance to become a young Faust! 오늘이 일요일까지 개최되는 2014세계문화페스티벌의 셋째 날입니다! ‘더 라운드 – 크리에이티브 랩’의 첫 공연이 어제 잘 끝났으며, 마지막 퍼포먼스가 오늘 오후 4시에 열립니다. ‘더 라운드’에 참가하실 때 사마트폰을 사용하셔서 아티스트들이 사전에 녹음한 가이드에 따라 아트선재센터 내 6가지 공간을 이동하시게 됩니다. 녹음한 아티스트의 네레이션을 들으시며 공간에 대해서 새롭게 느껴보실 수 있습니다.

아울러 오늘 상영하는 영화들이 , , , 그리고 이며, 저녁 8시반에 의 감독 얀 올레 게르스터와의 토크 세션이 특별히 마련되었습니다. 니다작센주 하겐에서 출생한 게르스터 감독은 베를린의 독일 필름 방송 아카데미에서 공부했고, 주한 독일문화원으로부터 젊은 창작자로 추천되어 첫 장편 영화인 이 초청 상영하게 되었습니다. ‘관객과의 대화’에서 게르스터 감독과 대화를 편안하게 나누어보세요 :)

Today is the third day of World Cultures 2014, which will be taking place until Sunday. ‘The Round – Creative Laboratory’s first performance was completed yesterday, and the final session will be taking place today at 4pm. When you participate in ‘The Round,’ you use a smartphone to listen to guides pre-recorded by the artists, leading you to move around 6 spaces within Art Sonje Center. As you listen to the recorded narration, you can feel different things about the spaces.

The movies to be screened today are , , , , and Tonight at 8:30pm, a talk session with the director of , Jan Ole Gerster, will specially take place. Born in Lower Saxony Hagen, Gerster studied at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin, and was recommended by the Goethe Institut of Korea for an invitation screening of his first feature-length film . Please come to take part in this Guest Visit with Gerster.

Tomorrow (Sat), the program ‘Being Faust – Enter Mephisto’ begins at 1pm. In this program, a modern interpretation of Yohann Wolfgang von Goethe’s novel 'Faust' is combined with mobile and social media factors, as well as real activity, to create a “big game.” ‘What is most important in life? What are my values based on? What cost am I willing to pay for success?’ are the sort of core universal questions about life in Goethe’s 'Faust' that participants can directly experience through the game. Using mobile phones, participants select the life values they seek after and become a ‘young Faust,’ entering into a contract with MEPHISTO & Co. 2014세계문화페스티벌 첫째 날을 잘 마쳤습니다! 축제 둘째 날인 오늘도 다양하고 흥미로운 프로그램을 선보일 예정입니다. 각 나라 별로 다양하게 꾸며진 테마존은 이미 전시 중이고, 오늘의 해외영화 라인업(, , , , )도 상영하기 시작했습니다.^^

‘더 라운드 - 크리에이티브 랩‘와 ‘질라’란 공연들이 3시와 8시에 진행됩니다. ‘더 라운드’는 건축물과 그것을 둘러싼 환경을 탐구하고 그 속에서 다양한 사람들의 시점을 찾아내는 프로젝트 입니다. 프로젝트 이름이 공간 내에서 순환(round)한다는 의미에서 ‘더 라운드’라고 합니다. 공모를 통해 6인의 한국 아티스트들이 선발되어 ‘더 라운드’의 아티스트들과 사전 워크숍을 진행해왔고, 오늘 다 함께 공연을 펼칠 예정입니다. 스마트폰을 사용하셔서 아티스트들이 사전에 녹음한 네레이션을 들으시고, 아트선재센터 내 6가지 공간을 순환하시며 퍼포먼스를 경험하러 오세요 :)

World Cultures 2014’s first day has been completed! We will be showing you a diverse and interesting program on the second day of the festival, today. The theme zone, which has been set up and divided by country, is on exhibit, and today’s foreign movie lineup - , , , , - has also begun screening.

‘The Round - Creative Laboratory’ and ‘Zilla’ are the two performances which will be opening at 3pm and 8pm today. ‘The Round’ is a project that explores an architectural building and the environment surrounding it, as well as the various viewpoints of the people inside. The name of the project ‘The Round’ is derived from the idea of rotating ‘around’ the space. Through a public contest, six Korean artists were selected for a workshop with the artists of ‘The Round’ and all will be participating in the performance today. Using smartphones, the audience will listen to narration pre-recorded by the artists as they rotate around six spaces within Art Sonje Center.

After the performance, a ‘Creator’s Talk’ will take place with the French artists Martin Chaput and Martial Chazallon, and the Korean artists Hye-seon Jung, Yong-seok Oh, and Min-sun Park at 7pm. Please come and participate :)

12월 10일부터 14일까지 진행되는 2014세계문화페스티벌이 오늘 드디어 시작했습니다! 테마존 부스전시는 설치되어있고 오늘 상영할 영화들 , , 그리고 도 스크리닝에 들어갔습니다! 저녁에 진행될 공연들 '다례'(5시) 그리고 '질리'(8시)는 준비 중이고요.^^ '다례'는 이탈리이의 작가 발레리오 로꼬 오를란도의 한인 아티스트 4인과 대화로 이루어지는 작품이며, 공연은 아트선재센터 1층 야외 한옥에서 진행됩니다.

세계문화페스티벌의 오프닝 리셉션은 7시에 시작하며, 창작 그룹 노니의 축하 공연과 더불어 음식과 와인이 준비되었습니다. 오프닝 리셉션과 '질라' 공연을 마치고 ‘창작자와의 대화’가 ‘질라’의 아티스트와 9시40분에 진행됩니다. 토크 세션 형태로 마련되었으며, 영국의 작가 및 감독 앤디 필드와 작품과 창작 활동에 대해서 자유롭게 대화를 나누실 수 있는 기회 입니다 :)

World Cultures 2014, which is taking place from December 10 to 14, has finally begun! The theme zone booth exhibit has been set up and the films which are to be screened today -- , , , and -- have begun rolling! Don’t forget about the performances which are to take place this evening, ‘Darye’ (5pm) and ‘Zilla’ (8pm). ‘Darye’ is the work of Italian artist Valerio Rocco Orlando, which arises through his conversation with four Korean artists, and will take place in the 1st floor outdoor hanok at Art Sonje Center.

World Cultures 2014's opening reception begins at 7pm this evening, and you may enjoy creative group Noni’s congratulatory performance, as well as the food and wine that will be prepared. After the reception and performance of 'Zilla', a ‘Creator’s Talk’ will take place with the artist behind ‘Zilla.’ In the form of a talk session, this is an opportunity to freely discuss the work as well as the creative activity of the English writer and director Andy Field.

2014세계문화페스티벌은 아트선재센터 (서울 종로구 율곡로3길 87(소격동144-2)에서 개최됩니다. 오시는 길은 지하철로 3호선 안국역 1번 출구로 나와 정독도서관 방향으로 도보 (약 7분 소요), 버스로는 종로 경찰서 혹은 안국역 하차 후 정독도서관 방향으로 도보 (약 7분 소요). 주차가 불가능하오니 대중교통을 이용해 주기길 바랍니다.^^

World Cultures 2014 is taking place at Art Sonje Center (87 Yulgok-ro 3gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Korea). The directions by subway are Exit 1 at Anguk Station on Line 3, with a 7-min walk in the direction of Jung Dok Public Library, and by bus, from Jongno Police Station or Anguk Station bus stop, a 7-min walk in the direction of Jung Dok Public Library. As parking is not allowed, we ask that you take public transportation.

내일(12/10) 아트선재센터에서 시작되는 2014세계문화페스티벌 전체일정표와 영화상영시간표를 다시 공유합니다!^^ 12월 10일(수)부터 12월 14일(일)까지 5일간 진행되는 이번 페스티벌에 많은 관심과 참여 부탁 드립니다.

행사에서는 테마존 부스 전시가 준비되었으며, 각 테마 별로 다양하게 꾸며진 테마존을 따라 각국의 다양한 문화예술을 체험하실 수 있습니다. 또한 각 주한 외국 문화원으로부터 해당 국가의 젊은 아티스트들이 추천 받아 초청 퍼포먼스, 게임, 디제잉 파티 등, 다양한 형태의 프로그램이 구성되었습니다. 추천 받은 젊은 아티스트들의 작품으로 영화 상영 프로그램도 특별히 준비되었으며, 작품과 퍼포먼스의 각 창작자들과 자유롭게 대화하실 수 있는 토그 세션이 아울러 마련되었습니다.

We’d like to share once again the complete festival schedule and film screening schedule for World Cultures 2014, which starts tomorrow (12/10) at Art Sonje Center! We ask for your great interest and participation in this festival that is taking place from December 10th to December 14th, for five days.

At the festival, a theme zone booth exhibit has been prepared so that the culture and arts of the country of the participating Foreign Cultural Institute may be experienced. In addition, young artists who have been recommended by the Cultural Institutes will be bringing their diverse programs, including performances, big games, a DJing party, etc. to the festival. A film screening program made up of films recommended by the Cultural Institutes has also been specially prepared, as well as talk sessions in which free conversation with the artists and directors is possible.

아트선재센터에서 개최되는 2014세계문화페스티벌이 드디어 내일(12/10) 시작합니다! 페스티벌의 오프닝을 축하하기 위해 내일 19:00에 아트선재 1층 라운지에서 개막식이 진행됩니다. 각국 문화원 원장님들과 아티스트들과 예술경영지원센터 멤버들과 축하의 자리를 함께 하세요.^^

창작자 그룹 노니의 축하 공연 ‘꼭두’가 개막식에서 펼쳐질 예정이며, 오프닝 바로 후에는 '다례'에 이어 2014세계문화페스티벌의 두 번째 공식 공연 ‘질라’가 시작됩니다. '꼭두'와 '질라'를 함께 관람하세요.^^ ‘질라’는 영국 감독 앤디 필드와 퍼포머 아이라 브랜드와 크리스토퍼 브랫 베일리의 진행으로 가상과 현실 사이에 이루어지는 퍼포먼스 입니다. ‘질라’ 예약은 2014세계문화페스티벌 블로그 (blog.naver.com/wcultures14)를 통해 하실 수 있습니다.

World Cultures 2014 finally begins tomorrow (12/10)! In order to celebrate the commencement of the festival, an opening ceremony will take place at 19:00 in the Art Sonje Center 1F Lounge. Please celebrate this opening along with the Directors of the participating Foreign Cultural Institutes, the artists, and the members of Korea Arts Management Service.

The creative group Noni will give an opening ceremony congratulatory performance entitled ‘Kkok-Du’, while World Cultures 2014’s second official performance ‘Zilla’ will take place immediately after the opening ceremony. Please watch both performances with us :) ‘Zilla’ is a performance that arises between real-life and virtuality through director Andy Field and performers Ira Brand and Christopher Brett Bailey. 이번 세계문화페스티벌에서 상영하기 위해 란 체코의 영화가 주한체코문화원으로부터 추천 받았습니다. 영화 속에서는 요리사 파벨은 종교적 이유로 토요일 노동을 거부해 해고된 뒤, 폐철처리장에서 일하게 됩니다. 폐철처리장 한편에는 체코를 탈출하려다 붙잡힌 여자죄수들도 일을 하고 있으며, 경비원의 감시 하에 남, 여 그룹은 서로 엄격하게 분리되어 있습니다. 그러나 감시와 통제에도 불구하고 파벨은 아름다운 아가씨 이트카와 사랑에 빠지고, 두 사람은 감시를 피해 만남을 갖기 시작합니다.

멘젤 감독은 체코의 영화 감독, 연극 연출, 배우 그리고 시나리오 작가이며, 종종 시니컬한 인간적인 시선으로 세상을 바라보는 시각과 도발적인 촬영을 결합하는 연출을 보입니다. 보후밀 흐라발과 블라디슬라프 반추라와 같은 체코 작가의 작품을 각색하기도 했습니다. 멘젤은 1986년 로 아카데미의 외국어 영화상 후보에 올랐습니다. 1987년 제37회 베를린 국제 영화제, 1989 제16회 모스크바 국제 영화제, 1995 제19회 모스크바 국제 영화제의 심사위원으로 위촉되었으며 2013년 11월 IFFI에서 공로상을 받기도 했습니다.

The film , by director Jiri Menzel, was recommended by the Czech Centre Seoul for World Cultures 2014. In this film, Pavel, who is a chef, is cut from work after refusing to work on Saturday due to religious reasons, and ends up working at a junkyard. On the other side of the junkyard are two female convicts who were seized after attempting to escape Czechoslovakia. Under the surveillance of guards, the male and female workers are strictly divided. Despite the regulation, Favel and the beautiful Jitka meet and fall in love.

Director Jiri Menzel is a film director, theatre director, actor, and screenwriter. His films often combine a humanistic view of the world with sarcasm and provocative cinematography. Some of these films are adapted from works by Czech writers such as Bohumil Hrabal and Vladislav Vančura. Menzel was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1986 with his dark comedy . In 1987, he was a member of the jury at the 37th Berlin International Film Festival, and in 1989 and 1995, was a member of the jury at the 16th and 19th Moscow International Film Festival. Menzel was conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award at IFFI in November 2013.

골디락스가 진행하는 영국의 라디오 'Selector'는 멕시코, 콜롬비아, 우간다, 헝가리, 중국, 말레이지아 등 30여개 이상의 국가에서 3백만 이상의 청취자를 보유하고 있습니다. DJ 골디락스는 여러 나라를 순회하며 라이브 디제잉 쇼를 펼치고 있고, 이번 2014세계문화페스티벌에서 펼쳐질 쇼는 DJ 골디락스가 엄선한 영국의 신선하고 흥미로운 음악을 선보일 예정 입니다.

주한독일문화원으로부터 젊은 아티스트들의 주목할 만한 작품들이 추천 받아 독일 영화 두 편이 2014세계문화페스티벌에서 초청 상영하게 되었습니다.

감독 얀 올레 게르스터의 영화 에서 베를린에 사는 20대 후반의 청년 니코는 2년 전 학교를 중퇴하고 한가하고 하릴없이 하루하루를 보냅니다. 어느 날 문득, 니코에게 찾아온 결코 유쾌하지 않은 하루는 니코가 삶을 새로운 시각으로 바라보는 계기가 됩니다.

게르스터 감독은 공무원 일을 마치고, 2000년부터 1년 동안 X-Filme Creative Pool에서 인턴십을 했으며, 볼프강 베커가 “굿바이 레닌”을 만들 시 어시스턴트로 일했습니다. 2003년에 베를린의 독일 필름 방송 아카데미에서 공부하기 시작했고, 은 첫 장편 영화 입니다.

The films of young German artists were recommended by the Goethe Institut of Korea, and two have been selected for screening at World Cultures 2014.

In German director Jan Ole Gerster’s film , Niko, who lives in Berlin and is in his late 20’s, dropped out of school two years ago and now drifts aimlessly through life. Suddenly, an extremely unpleasant day leads Niko to view life from a whole new stance.

After director Gester completed his term of civil service, he worked as an intern from 2000 to 2001 at X-Filme Creative Pool, then worked as Wolfgang Becker’s assistant during the making of . In 2003, he began studies at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin. is Gerster’s first feature film.

In the German film , by director Jakob Lass, steaks are sizzling and stomachs are massaged at a luxury hotel. Clemens joins the spa as a rookie, as Lara tries to assert herself in the kitchen by raising her voice. The elevator brings the two together, and they rub against each another until they start to create friction. The friction ignites, beginning to burn.

Director Lass is a member of the independent film school Filmarche Kreuzberg and was trained as an actor. In 2008 he participated in the Berlinale Talent Campus with his short film . He has been studying directing at the Film and Television University Konrad Wolf (HFF) in Potsdam-Babelsberg since 2009, and directed his first feature-length film in 2011.
