KUWAIT CITY, Sep 5: Kuwait’s General Directorate of Traffic has arrested a suspect accused of reckless
and negligent driving that endangered his own life, other road users and their property.

The suspect was identified after the Security Control Department monitored a video documenting the incident
and conducted the necessary investigations. Legal action was taken against him, and he was subsequently
transferred to the Central Prison.

The vehicle used in the incident was also impounded after completion of the legal procedures for its
confiscation in favor of the Ministry of Interior.

Under Article 33 bis of Kuwait’s Traffic Law, anyone convicted of reckless or negligent driving that endangers the
lives or property of the driver or others may face imprisonment of more than one year and up to three years,
along with a fine ranging from KD 600 to KD 1,000, or either of the two penalties.
The law also allows the court, either on its own initiative or at the request of the Ministry of Interior, to order the
confiscation of the vehicle in favor of the Ministry if the accused is convicted of an offense covered by the
article.

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 2: Kuwait has introduced a KD 150 fee for converting a visit entry visa into a regular
residency permit under new amendments to the executive regulations of the Foreigners Residence Law.

The amendment was published in Sunday's issue of the official gazette Kuwait Alyoum through Ministry of
Interior Decision No. 1091 of 2026, which revises certain provisions of Ministerial Decision No. 2249 of 2025
governing the executive regulations of the residence law.
Under the new amendment, a new Clause (4) has been added to Paragraph Nine of Article 39, requiring
payment of KD 150 for the service of converting a visit visa into a regular residence permit, in accordance with
Article 16 of the executive regulations.

The decision exempts domestic workers and those in similar categories from paying the fee, in line with the
provisions of Article 20 of the executive regulations.
The Ministry of Interior said the relevant authorities have been instructed to implement the decision within their
respective jurisdictions. The amendment takes effect immediately from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

KUWAIT CITY, July 30: Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense announced Thursday that an Iranian attack targeted a facility
belonging to a Chinese company in northern Kuwait, killing a Nepalese worker and causing extensive damage
to the site. Ministry spokesperson Brig. Gen. Saud Al-Atwan said the relevant authorities immediately initiated

response procedures and coordinated with concerned agencies following the incident. He affirmed that the
Kuwaiti Armed Forces continue to perform their duties with the highest level of readiness and efficiency, taking
all necessary measures to protect Kuwait’s sovereignty, security and stability while ensuring the safety of
citizens and residents. The Chinese Embassy in Kuwait confirmed that the victim was a Nepalese driver working
for a Kuwaiti subcontractor involved in a project operated by a Chinese company. The embassy said the worker
was killed after the vehicle he was driving was struck during the attack. Expressing condolences to the victim’s
family, the embassy condemned attacks targeting civilians and non-military facilities, calling on all parties to
immediately halt hostilities, resume dialogue and avoid further escalation.

Gulf solidarity with Kuwait The Kingdom of Bahrain strongly condemned the Iranian attack, describing it as a
violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and a threat to its security and the safety of civilians. Bahrain’s Ministry of
Foreign Affairs expressed full solidarity with Kuwait and support for all measures taken to protect its sovereignty,
territorial integrity and stability. It praised the efforts of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces and competent authorities in
safeguarding the country’s security, while offering condolences to the family of the deceased worker. Bahrain
also called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to take decisive measures to
ensure respect for international law and prevent further attacks against countries in the region. The UAE also
condemned what it described as renewed Iranian attacks against Kuwait and Jordan, saying the strikes
represent violations of their sovereignty and a threat to regional security.

DRAMMEN, Norway, July 18, (AP): A major fire in southern Norway destroyed more than 100 homes Friday
and forced hundreds of people to evacuate the area, according to police and the country’s public
The blaze started in a townhouse in the city of Drammen around 3:30 p.m. Friday, police said. It then spread
through the area and into nearby forests. Firefighters continued their efforts Saturday morning to bring the
blaze under control.

NRK, Norway’s public broadcaster, said hundreds of people went to an evacuation center.
No residents have been reported missing, police said. It was not immediately clear what caused the fire.
Drammen is roughly 34 kilometers (21 miles) southwest of Oslo.

KUWAIT CITY, July 17: Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense announced that the country’s Armed Forces intercepted hostile
ballistic missiles and drones that entered Kuwaiti airspace early Friday, following what it described as an Iranian
attack that targeted military installations and key civilian infrastructure across the country.

Official Spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Major General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi, said the Armed Forces
detected multiple hostile ballistic missiles and drones since dawn and successfully intercepted and engaged
them as part of Kuwait’s air defense operations.
Despite the interceptions, several facilities and camps belonging to the Kuwaiti Army were struck by hostile
drones during what the ministry described as the “Iranian aggression.” The attack resulted in injuries to a
number of Kuwaiti Land Force personnel while they were performing their military duties.

Al-Otaibi said the injured soldiers received immediate medical treatment and their conditions are stable. The attack also extended to civilian infrastructure, with several vital facilities reportedly coming under attack.
Among the sites affected were a power generation station and a water distillation plant, where the strikes
triggered a fire and caused damage to station facilities and electricity generation units.
