Derek and Greg continue onward, from the hilltop town of Orvieto, into the valley and up the next hill, stopping for the night at Bolsena, which sits on Lake Bolsena. The next day, skirting the lake as they climb the next ridge, they hike to Montefiascone, where Derek spends the afternoon looking for a good place to get a pedicure.

Derek and Greg are trekking from Lucca to Rome, covering approximately a half marathon per day, in order to raise funds to complete a permanent home office and kitchen for Meals on Wheels Cayman. Derek and Greg's arrival in Orvieto marks the end of the second phase of their journey from Lucca to Rome. While enjoying a rest day in Orvieto, the trekkers make an appeal for donations to Meals on Wheels and visit St. Patrick's Well.

The Rotary Club of Grand Cayman is supremely proud of Past President Katherine Tathum, who was recognized with a certificate of appreciation at the Lighthouse School 50th Anniversary Gala this weekend.

PP Kat has, for over a decade, organized a gift-giving event for the children of the Lighthouse school. Each Christmas season, she collects a wish list from the children, and then matches them with Rotarians who acquire the gifts. Then, each December, she organizes a fun-filled event, where Santa shows up to distribute the gifts and other fun activities are planned for the children.

It is a heartwarming experience to participate in PP Kat's annual gift-giving event, and we are very proud that she has so deservingly be recognized by the Lighthouse School.

Derek and Greg trek onwards, traversing the glaciated terrain between Catiglione and Orvieto. Upon reaching Orvieto, they complete the second phase of their trip from Lucca to Rome.

PP Derek and Greg continue their trek, from the town of San Quirico d'Orcia to the castle on the hill at Cstiglione d'Orcia. Although they had a short distance to cover, this leg of the trek involved descending and ascending several thousand feet.

Greg and PP Derek trek onward toward, continuing along the trail taken by General Hannibal of Carthage when he marched on Rome with his army and contingent of war elephants. More recently, the agricultural area that PP Derek and Greg hike through was the location where scenes in the movie "Gladiator" were filmed.

Derek and Greg are trekking down the Via Francigena to raise funds for Meals on Wheels Cayman.
