We’re proud to have hosted yesterday’s annual Seafarers Lunch to honour a legacy that has helped shape the .

It was a privilege to welcome seafarers, their families and members of the wider community for an afternoon of fellowship, shared stories and heartfelt appreciation.

We were honoured to welcome Her Excellency Governor Jane Owen and Premier André Ebanks, alongside other distinguished guests, whose presence reflects the importance of Cayman's heritage.

Our sincere thanks to our partners, Cayman Airways Ltd., Cayman Islands Government Ministry of Sports, Youth, Culture and Heritage, Cayman Islands Seafarer's Association, Progressive Distributors Ltd., Tortuga Cayman, Foster's Supermarket and The Grandpeople’s Dowry and to everyone who joined us to celebrate a remarkable legacy of service, sacrifice and community.

A new year begins with renewed purpose and a shared commitment to creating lasting impact.

We are delighted to welcome our 2026-2027 Board of Directors, led by President Dale Crowley, alongside President-Elect Glenna Dureau-Sargsyan, Vice President Tania Slijper, Immediate Past President Vinton Chinsee, Secretary David Kirkaldy and Treasurer Simon Hinshelwood.

Congratulations to Alan Roffey, recipient of 's 2025-2026 award.

This award is reserved for Rotarians who truly embody the motto of , demonstrating exceptional dedication, leadership and commitment to 's charitable mission. Alan's contributions throughout our 60th Anniversary Year exemplified these values in every sense.

Alan played a leading role in the inaugural Million Dollar Dinner, helping the event surpass its ambitious US$1 million fundraising goal and ultimately raise more than US$2.1 million in support of The Rotary Foundation, further strengthening our ability to create lasting change both locally and around the world.

Alan was also instrumental in establishing our first "Companion Club", creating a new and more flexible pathway for membership that helps ensure Rotary remains accessible, inclusive and relevant for future generations of leaders and volunteers.

He has also played a key role in the Hurricane Melissa relief project to construct the roof of the Montego Bay Boys and Girls Club and music hall.

Beyond these achievements, Alan's dedication, vision and enthusiasm have helped strengthen our club and expand our impact across the and the wider region.

A new Rotary year begins with gratitude, fellowship and a renewed commitment to service.

Last night, members and guests of the gathered at Morgan's Seafood Restaurant to celebrate our 2026 Changeover Dinner, marking the transition of leadership and the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

The evening was also an opportunity to recognise and thank outgoing President Vinton Chinsee and the 2025-2026 Board for their dedication, leadership and service throughout the past Rotary year. Their commitment has helped strengthen our Club, support impactful community initiatives and build upon the proud legacy of Rotary in the .

As President Vinton now assumes the role of Immediate Past President, we are pleased to welcome President Dale Crowley and the 2026-2027 Board of Directors. Together, they bring a wealth of experience, integrity and passion for as they lead the Club into the year ahead.

Guided by Rotary International's 2026-2027 theme, Create Lasting Impact, we look forward to continuing more than six decades of leadership, fellowship and service to our community. Through meaningful partnerships, sustainable projects and a shared commitment to making a difference, we will continue working to create positive change across the Cayman Islands and beyond.

Derek and Greg continue onward, from the hilltop town of Orvieto, into the valley and up the next hill, stopping for the night at Bolsena, which sits on Lake Bolsena. The next day, skirting the lake as they climb the next ridge, they hike to Montefiascone, where Derek spends the afternoon looking for a good place to get a pedicure.

Derek and Greg are trekking from Lucca to Rome, covering approximately a half marathon per day, in order to raise funds to complete a permanent home office and kitchen for Meals on Wheels Cayman.
