The Ministry of Health, Environment and Sustainability invites the public and members of the media to a press conference today, Thursday, 6 August, where an update will be provided on the independent diagnostic assessment of the governance of the Health Services Authority.

Commissioned in January 2026 and conducted by KPMG, the assessment examined the HSA's governance structures, leadership capability and organisational effectiveness, while identifying practical opportunities to strengthen the Authority.

As part of the Ministry's commitment to transparency and accountability, the full report will be published on the Ministry's website after the press conference.

⚠️ The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) is investigating reports of a scam that involves individuals posing as used-car dealers.

The scammers post Facebook ads claiming to sell second-hand vehicles from Japan. Buyers are told to contact the seller on WhatsApp, where the scammers use fake names like “Anthony Daniels” or “Ahmed” and phone numbers with Pakistani country codes. Multiple victims have already lost money to the scheme.

Members of the public are urged to exercise caution when purchasing vehicles online and to verify the legitimacy of the seller before making any payment.

The public is also reminded to conduct business with only established dealers with verifiable business details, including a physical address, official website and telephone number.

Detectives are encouraging anyone who has made contact with the seller to make a report at the nearest police station.

The matter remains under police investigation.

Building on an unprecedented start to the year, the Cayman Islands tourism sector maintained its strong momentum in June 2026, securing an eighth consecutive month of year-over-year stayover growth. Welcoming 40,460 stayover visitors, a 6.9% increase over June 2025, the destination closed out a historic first half of the year with 288,694 total stayover arrivals. This sustained performance highlights the ongoing success of targeted market diversification, airlift expansion, and strong industry partnerships.

This growth directly aligns with the Cayman Islands Government’s strategic priority to build a diversified, resilient economy that supports prosperity and opportunity for all Caymanians.

As noted by the Ministry of Tourism and Trade Development, these consistent achievements demonstrate how strategic tourism growth delivers direct economic benefits to local businesses, hospitality workers, and communities across Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman.

Older persons should feel supported, connected and able to remain active members of Cayman's communities at every stage of life. A holistic approach to eldercare, including access to quality healthcare, in-home care services and social engagement programmes, can help older Caymanians maintain their wellbeing, independence and dignity.

Government is also supporting initiatives that strengthen independent living for older persons, including the expansion of The Pines Retirement Home through the Silver Thatch Residence, while supporting the work of the Council of Older Persons to help inform programmes, policies and legislative measures that benefit older Caymanians.

The Cayman Islands Government was proud to join community leaders on Friday, 31 July, as Her Excellency the Governor, Jane Owen, led the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the grand opening of Autism Acceptance’s new center at 13 Melody Lane.

In her remarks, Her Excellency celebrated this milestone for the nation, highlighting the power of dedicated community spaces. As the Cayman Islands’ first neurodivergent-friendly center, this facility offers autistic individuals and their families a safe, welcoming environment where identity is celebrated, support is accessible, and connection thrives.

Ministerial remarks were also delivered by Hon. Rolston Anglin, Minister for Education & Training and Hon. Katherine Ebanks, Minister for Health, Environment & Sustainability. The special occasion was further supported by the attendance of Hon. Gary Rutty, Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism and Trade Development, Hon. Isaac Rankine, Minister for Social Development & Innovation, and Parliamentary Secretary Ms. Heather Bodden.

The Department of eGovernment (eGov) is urging residents who use a candw.ky email address to update their eServices Sign In account ahead of the discontinuation of the candw.ky email service mid-September 2026.

The Utility Regulation and Competition Office (ofReg) has approved a phased closure of the candw.ky email service. Under the approved timetable, candw.ky accounts are due to stop receiving new emails from mid-September. These dates depend on Flow meeting its notification and migration obligations and may move if those obligations are not met. Residents are encouraged to act now rather than wait.

eServices Sign In uses the email address held on an account to send password reset links, verification codes and service notifications. If a candw.ky mailbox stops receiving mail, account holders may be unable to reset a password or recover access to government services online.

Account holders can sign in at https://my.egov.ky/c/portal/login, open their profile and change the email address. A one-time passcode (OTP) will be sent to the new email address; entering it confirms the change and updates the email immediately. eGov also encourages account holders to add a mobile number and, if they have one, link their eID card as a backup recovery method.
