Shortly after 4:00AM on Friday, 12 June, police responded to two reports of burglary in North Side.

In the first incident, it was reported that two masked individuals dressed in dark clothing unlawfully entered a residence along North Side Road.

A victim, who was awoken during the incident, shouted at the suspects who fled the location with a quantity of cash and a mobile phone.

While officers were responding to that incident, they were alerted to a second burglary that had recently occurred at a nearby residence. It is reported that a masked individual dressed in dark clothing entered the home and stole a quantity of cash before fleeing the location.

No one was injured during either incident and these matters remain under police investigation.

In both incidents, it appears that the properties were left insecure, with doors unlocked. The RCIPS is reminding the public to ensure that all doors and windows are properly secured before going to bed or leaving their homes.

Anyone, who believes they have any relevant CCTV recording or information regarding these incidents, is encouraged to contact the Bodden Town Police Station at 947-2220.

Anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS via our Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, or via our website.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously via the Cayman Crime Stoppers website or by downloading the Cayman Crime Stoppers app.

In response to concerns raised by residents during recent community meetings held by the Commissioner of Police, Sister Islands officers have been conducting targeted traffic enforcement initiatives to improve road safety across Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.

Since 1 June, officers have increased patrols in specific areas of concern on the islands, especially in and around school zones. During this period, police have issued a total of 15 traffic tickets; 6 tickets were issued for speeding offences and 9 tickets were issued for other traffic offences including failing to wear a seatbelt, illegal window tint, and operating an unlicensed vehicle on a public roadway.

In addition, one man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, and another man was arrested for driving without a valid driver's licence. A third man was issued a warning of intended prosecution for a traffic-related offence.

"We remain committed to listening to the concerns of the public and taking appropriate action to address them," said District Commander for the Sister Islands, Inspector Laing-Hall.

"These traffic enforcement checks will continue until further notice as we work to improve road safety across our communities."

Motorists across all three Islands are reminded to drive with due care and attention, obey speed limits, and exercise caution in and around school zones.

The RCIPS will continue to conduct road safety initiatives across the Cayman Islands as part of its commitment to making the Cayman Islands safer.

The police are investigating reports of a suspected scam after a quantity of cash was stolen from an account held at a local financial institution.

It is reported that one victim received a call from an individual claiming to be associated with a local financial institution. The RCIPS is reminding members of the public to take the following precautions:

We are incredibly proud of our officers from the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) who recently attended and participated in the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) initiative!

Disaster preparedness and regional resilience require a united front, especially now, at the start of Hurricane Season 2026. Our officers, PS Kevin Gibson and PC Neddia Bromley stood alongside regional counterparts to sharpen emergency response strategies, strengthen tactical coordination, and ensure the Cayman Islands remains ready for any crisis.

The key focus areas of this training experience included:
• Enhancing logistics, warehouse management, and regional relief systems.
• Mastering emergency telecommunications equipment and the tactical CDRU deployment kit.
• Developing essential post-disaster safer building and engineering techniques.

The officers attended this training alongside our Cayman partners who collaborated closely to make this engagement a success:
• Hazard Management Cayman Islands (HMCI)
• Cayman Islands Fire Service
• Cayman Islands Regiment

By working together locally and regionally, we continue to build a safer, more resilient Cayman Islands and region.
