Employers are advised that the previously implemented grace period for the new 21-day advertising requirement for work permit applications has been extended until 30 June 2026.

During this extended grace period, Workforce Opportunities and Residency Cayman (WORC) will continue to accept work permit applications that meet the previous 14-day advertising requirements. Jobs will still be required to be advertised on the WORC Jobs Portal.

Applicants and employers are encouraged to review the updated immigration requirements and ensure that all applications are complete, accurate, and supported by the required documentation to avoid delays in processing.

Employers are encouraged to use this extended grace period to prepare for full compliance with the new 21-day advertising requirement to be enforced on 1 July 2026.

🌀 The Atlantic Hurricane Season begins today. Are you ready?

Today, 1 June, marks the official start of the Atlantic Hurricane Season. In the Cayman Islands, hurricanes are not just a possibility, they are a reality we must be prepared to face. That's why readiness isn't a one-time activity; it's a commitment we make every day to protect our families, homes, businesses, and communities.

Preparation is a shared responsibility. The Cayman Islands Government continues to strengthen its communication channels to ensure everyone has access to verified weather updates, emergency warnings, and official shelter information. During an emergency, relying on trusted sources helps prevent the spread of rumours and misinformation, allowing you to make informed decisions with confidence.

Don't wait for a storm to be on the horizon.

Update to Jobseeker Access – WORC Jobs Portal

WORC has updated the Jobs Portal to better support Caymanian employment.

Jobseeker registration and the ability to apply for jobs through the portal will now be limited to Caymanians and Permanent Residents with the Right to Work.

If your current immigration status does not meet this eligibility requirement, your access to register or apply will be disabled. If you have active applications, please contact the relevant employers directly for updates once your access has been removed.

Why Caymanian Jobseekers Should Use the WORC Jobs Portal

The WORC Jobs Portal is the official platform for employment opportunities in the Cayman Islands and offers key benefits for Caymanian jobseekers:

🔹Official and secure: Job postings are verified and aligned with Cayman Islands labour policies.
🔹Visibility to WORC and the Boards: Applications submitted through the portal are visible within the official system.
🔹Access to opportunities: View and apply for jobs across industries and sectors in one place.
🔹Easy application management: Submit, track, and manage applications securely from a central platform.
🔹Compliance with local requirements: Employers are required to post vacancies and receive applications through the portal.

Caymanian jobseekers are strongly encouraged to use the WORC Jobs Portal to ensure their applications are visible within the official system designed to support and prioritise Caymanian employment.

13/05/2026

Prior to submitting an application for a work permit grant or renewal, an employer must demonstrate that the position has been advertised for a minimum of twenty-one (21) days in both of the following prescribed media:

• the WORC electronic Jobs Portal; and
• a locally printed newspaper.

However, a three-week grace period will apply where permit applications submitted up to 21 May 2026 may still rely on advertisements that met the previous 14-day requirement. After 21 May 2026, the grace period will end, and all work permit applications must be supported by advertisements that meet the new 21-day requirement.

While employers may choose to advertise vacancies on additional platforms, this does not replace the mandatory requirement to advertise in both the electronic WORC Jobs Portal and a local newspaper for work permit purposes.

When advertising in a local newspaper, employers are required to show proof of 3 consecutive weeks of advertising for the post with a minimum of one advertisement per week. Advertisements within the local newspaper should contain the following information:
• Job Title & Description
• Required Skills and Experience
• Base Salary or Salary Range with Benefits
• Work Hours per month
• Employer Contact Information

This change is to ensure that Caymanians are given a fair opportunity to apply for available roles before employers seek to hire work permit holders, strengthening Caymanian-first hiring and ensuring employers genuinely test the local labour market before applying for or renewing a work permit.
