🪘🇰🇾 Emancipation Day is a powerful reminder of the courage and resilience that shaped the Cayman Islands, marking the end of slavery and the beginning of stronger, united communities.

It invites us to reflect on our shared history, honour the legacy of those who came before us, and recognise the role we each play in preserving Caymanian culture and identity.

This year is especially meaningful as Emancipation Day forms part of the Cayman Islands’ inaugural Heritage Month, a national celebration of our people, traditions, and stories, and an opportunity to connect more deeply with what it means to be Caymanian.

Guided by this year’s theme, “Threads to Our Traditions”, we encourage everyone to take part, learn, and reflect as we continue building a future rooted in pride, understanding, and togetherness.

A special thank you to Hon. Minister Nicholas DaCosta for attending and speaking in support of My eID, and to District Commissioner Mark Tibbetts, Chevala Burke, and the entire District Administration team for helping to facilitate a smooth and successful visit and for accommodating the My eID team throughout the day.

We also extend our sincere thanks to the people of Little Cayman for stopping by, asking questions, and learning more about how My eID will make it easier to verify identity, access services, and connect with government across all three Islands.

My eID is now available in Cayman Brac and select dates in Little Cayman, making it easier for Sister Islands residents to apply for and access Cayman Islands Identification Card services closer to home. 🇰🇾

Residents of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman can now apply for, renew and receive support for their My eID without travelling to Grand Cayman. My eID offers a secure and convenient way to verify identity, access government services, and support inter-island travel; especially for those without a driver’s licence, including some older persons and young people. 🔐

Applicants are encouraged to begin their application online, submit their information, and book an appointment in advance to help speed up processing and card issuance. 💻
