Training, Review and Follow-up on Basic Vocational Skills Promotion for Household Entrepreneurs in Nawah and Nonsavanh Villages, Salavane Province.

Women’s groups from Nawah and Nonsavanh villages in Salavane Province participated in a training, review and follow-up activity after receiving materials and equipment for poultry housing, home gardening and fish farming. The activity focused on reviewing knowledge, sharing experiences, monitoring progress, and jointly identifying solutions to challenges, enabling the women’s groups to effectively use the equipment received to further develop income-generating activities and promote household food security.

This activity represents another important step in strengthening the skills, knowledge and capacity of women’s groups in the community, enabling them to make effective use of available capital and resources, while laying the foundation for more secure and sustainable livelihoods.

Mr. Phayvan Sengamphanh, Deputy Head of the Salavan Provincial Department of Education and Sports, highlighted that over the past two years, project collaboration and support—particularly the construction of standardized schools and the provision of modern learning materials—have enabled young children to learn through play and develop appropriately for their age.
A key visible result is the enrollment rate of 5-year-old children in Salavan Province, which has increased from 82.4% to 86.2%, demonstrating improved access to quality early childhood education.
This success stems from strong collaboration among the government, local communities, and development partners in creating equal opportunities for every child to get a high-quality start in their learning journey.

For Mr. Khampoun Heuanghongsa, Head of the Village Education Development Committee (VEDC) in Tukluk Village, education development does not end with constructing school buildings. It means establishing a resilient system that the community can independently manage and sustain.

Through active participation, parents, the VEDC, and community members jointly manage village education funds, support school lunch programs, track student attendance, and chart future operational plans—ensuring that every child continues to receive nutritious meals and learn in a supportive environment.

When communities are equipped with knowledge, governance mechanisms, and self-management confidence, project impact does not end when the funding period concludes; it continues to thrive generations to come.

On July 2, 2026 – The German-Lao Association for Development (GLAD), in collaboration with the Sekong Provincial Department of Education and Sports, organized the 2026 Mid-Year Review and Planning Meeting under the “Community-Based Early Childhood Education Promotion Project” for Dakcheung district. On June 30, 2026 – The German-Lao Association for Development (GLAD), in collaboration with the Salavan Provincial Department of Education and Sports, organized the Mid-Year Review and Planning Meeting for 2026 under the “Village-Based Early Childhood Education Promotion Project” in Ta-Oi District.
The meeting was chaired by Ms. Phouvieng Inthasone, Deputy Head of the Salavan Provincial Department of Education and Sports, Distinguished attendees included the Head of the Ta-Oi District Education and Sports Office, representatives from the Ta-Ouy District Administration Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Sports, project coordinators, and the GLAD team. Key objectives:
• 📊 Progress Review: Evaluating the implementation and performance of project activities during the first six months of 2026.
• 💡 Lessons Learned: Discussing achievements, challenges, root causes, and effective solutions to improve upcoming project operations.
• Future Planning: Presenting strategic directions and action plans for the remaining six months of 2026.
