أحال محافظ بيروت مروان عبود إلى رئيس المجلس البلدي اقتراحين لتسمية شارعين في العاصمة باسمَي الفنانين الراحلين زياد الرحباني وأحمد قعبور.

ويقضي الاقتراح بإطلاق اسم زياد الرحباني على أحد شوارع رأس بيروت، واسم أحمد قعبور على أحد شوارع عين المريسة، تكريمًا لإرثهما الفني والثقافي ودورهما في الذاكرة اللبنانية.

ويبقى تنفيذ الاقتراحين رهن مناقشتهما واتخاذ القرار المناسب من قبل المجلس البلدي.

Beirut Governor Marwan Abboud referred two proposals to the head of the municipal council to name two streets in the capital after the late artists Ziad Rahbani and Ahmad Kaabour.

The proposals call for naming a street in Ras Beirut after Ziad Rahbani and another in Ain El Mreisseh after Ahmad Kaabour, in recognition of their artistic and cultural legacy and their place in Lebanon’s collective memory.

Implementation remains subject to the municipal council’s review and approval.

🚌 إعفاء هبة صينية تضمّ 100 حافلة بقيمة نحو 12.5 مليون دولار من الرسوم والضرائب

صدر المرسوم رقم 3475 بتاريخ 17 تموز 2026، القاضي بإعفاء الهبة العينية المقدّمة إلى وزارة الأشغال العامة والنقل – مصلحة سكك الحديد والنقل المشترك، من الرسوم الجمركية والضرائب كافة.

📌 ماذا تشمل الهبة؟
100 حافلة، إضافة إلى قطع الغيار والمواد والتجهيزات التابعة لها، بقيمة إجمالية تبلغ 89.9 مليون يوان صيني، أي نحو 12.5 مليون دولار أميركي، ضمن اتفاقية التعاون الاقتصادي والفني بين لبنان والصين.

وشمل الإعفاء:
• الرسوم الجمركية كافة، بما فيها الحد الأدنى للرسم الجمركي
• رسم الاستهلاك الداخلي
• الرسم المقطوع بنسبة 3%
• الضريبة على القيمة المضافة والرسوم المرفقية

🚌 Chinese Grant of 100 Buses Worth Approximately $12.5 Million Exempted from Taxes and Customs Duties

Decree No. 3475, dated July 17, 2026, was issued to exempt the in-kind grant provided to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport – the Railway and Public Transport Authority – from all customs duties and taxes.

📌 What does the grant include?
100 buses, in addition to their spare parts, materials, and related equipment, with a total value of CNY 89.9 million, equivalent to approximately $12.5 million, under the Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation between Lebanon and China.

The exemptions include:
• All customs duties, including the minimum customs duty
• Internal consumption tax
• The 3% lump-sum fee
• Value-added tax and port-related charges

💸 نصف مليار دولار أقل من تحويلات المغتربين إلى لبنان

كشف التقرير السنوي لمصرف لبنان لعام 2025 تراجع تحويلات المغتربين من 6.8 مليارات دولار عام 2024 إلى 6.3 مليارات دولار عام 2025، أي بانخفاض يقارب نصف مليار دولار خلال سنة واحدة.

ويكتسب هذا التراجع أهمية خاصة، إذ تُعد تحويلات المغتربين من أبرز مصادر العملة الصعبة في لبنان، كما تشكّل موردًا أساسيًا لآلاف الأسر.

ويأتي ذلك بالتزامن مع تراجع ودائع القطاع الخاص والتسليفات المصرفية، ما يعكس استمرار الضغوط على الاقتصاد اللبناني رغم تسجيل بعض مؤشرات النمو.

💸 Lebanon Receives Half a Billion Dollars Less in Expatriate Remittances

The Banque du Liban’s 2025 Annual Report revealed that expatriate remittances to Lebanon fell from $6.8 billion in 2024 to $6.3 billion in 2025, marking a decline of nearly half a billion dollars in just one year.

This drop is particularly significant, as remittances are one of Lebanon’s main sources of foreign currency and a vital source of income for thousands of families.

It also comes alongside declines in private-sector deposits and bank lending, reflecting the continued pressure on the Lebanese economy despite some signs of partial growth.

💥 الحرب استنزفت أكثر من نصف اقتصاد لبنان

بحسب التقرير السنوي لمصرف لبنان لعام 2025، واستنادًا إلى تقرير التقييم السريع للأضرار والاحتياجات الصادر عن البنك الدولي، بلغت الكلفة الاقتصادية للحرب الإسرائيلية على لبنان نحو 14 مليار دولار، منها 6.8 مليارات دولار أضرار مادية و7.2 مليارات دولار خسائر اقتصادية.

📊 هذا الرقم يعادل أكثر من نصف الناتج المحلي الإجمالي للبنان.

كما قُدّرت احتياجات التعافي وإعادة الإعمار بنحو 11 مليار دولار إضافية.

ولا تقتصر الخسائر على الأرقام؛ إذ أدّت الحرب إلى نزوح نحو 1.2 مليون شخص داخل لبنان، إلى جانب آلاف الضحايا والجرحى، ما ترك آثارًا عميقة على المجتمع والاقتصاد.

💥 The war drained more than half of Lebanon’s economy.

According to Banque du Liban’s 2025 Annual Report, citing the World Bank’s Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment (RDNA), the economic cost of the Israeli war on Lebanon reached around $14 billion—including $6.8 billion in physical damage and $7.2 billion in economic losses.

📊 This amount exceeds half of Lebanon’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Recovery and reconstruction needs are estimated at an additional $11 billion.

The impact goes far beyond the numbers. The war displaced around 1.2 million people across Lebanon and resulted in thousands of deaths and injuries, leaving lasting consequences for both society and the national economy.

🪙 ذهب مصرف لبنان يحلّق في 2025

كشف التقرير السنوي لمصرف لبنان أن قيمة احتياطي الذهب لدى المصرف المركزي ارتفعت بنسبة 67.5% لتبلغ نحو 40.4 مليار دولار أميركي في نهاية 2025.

❗️لكن الأهم من الرقم هو السبب: هذا الارتفاع لا يعود إلى شراء كميات إضافية من الذهب، بل إلى صعود السعر العالمي للأونصة (من نحو 2,640 دولاراً مطلع العام إلى نحو 4,330 دولاراً في نهايته).

الذهب اليوم يشكّل الركيزة الأساسية للاحتياطيات الاستراتيجية لدى مصرف لبنان، فيما تبقى معظم مكوّنات الاحتياطي الأخرى تحت ضغط التحديات الاقتصادية والمالية المستمرة.

Banque du Liban’s annual report revealed that the value of its gold reserves rose by 67.5%, reaching around $40.4 billion by the end of 2025.

❗️But the more important story is *why*: this increase isn’t due to purchasing additional gold, but to the rise in the global price per ounce (from around $2,640 at the start of the year to about $4,330 by year’s end).

كشف التقرير السنوي لمصرف لبنان لعام 2025 أن وزارة المالية لم تنشر أي بيانات رسمية عن الدَّين العام لعام 2024 حتى اليوم.

ووفق آخر البيانات المتاحة، بلغ إجمالي الدَّين العام نحو 46.3 مليار دولار في نهاية 2024.

غياب هذه البيانات يثير تساؤلات حول الشفافية والمساءلة، فيما يبقى حق المواطنين في معرفة حجم الدَّين العام حقاً أساسياً.

📊 Public Debt Has Been Off the Radar Since 2024!

Banque du Liban’s 2025 Annual Report revealed that the Ministry of Finance has yet to publish any official public debt data for 2024.

According to the latest available figures, Lebanon’s total public debt stood at around USD 46.3 billion at the end of 2024.

📊 كشف التقرير السنوي لمصرف لبنان لعام 2025 عن مؤشرات اقتصادية متباينة:

✅ نموّ الناتج المحلي الإجمالي الحقيقي بنسبة 3.8%، بعد انكماش بلغ 6.4% في عام 2024
✅ تراجع لافت في معدل التضخم من 45.2% إلى 12.2%
⚠️ في المقابل، سجّل الميزان التجاري عجزاً بلغ 17.4 مليار دولار أميركي، أي ما يوازي نحو 53% من الناتج المحلي الإجمالي الاسمي

📊 The Banque du Liban Annual Report for 2025 revealed mixed economic indicators:

✅ Real gross domestic product grew by 3.8%, following a contraction of 6.4% in 2024.
✅ The inflation rate declined markedly from 45.2% to 12.2%.
⚠️ By contrast, the trade balance recorded a deficit of USD 17.4 billion, equivalent to approximately 53% of nominal gross domestic product.

A trade deficit of this magnitude reflects a structural dependence on imports, alongside weak domestic production and exports. It remains one of the most significant structural challenges facing the Lebanese economy, despite signs of a partial recovery.
