📢Press Release. 🇬🇷 is completing the first phase of its humanitarian assistance to Lebanon.
Greece, remaining consistent in its role as a pillar of stability and solidarity in the Eastern Mediterranean, expresses its practical support for the Government and the friendly people of 🇱🇧.
Responding promptly to the current humanitarian crisis and the Flash Appeal of the United Nations Secretary-General, Greece is completing an initial round of humanitarian and development assistance, through Hellenic Aid of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Greek contribution is structured around three main pillars:
1. Financial Support via the UN. Greece has allocated the amount of 300,000 euros as an emergency financial contribution to the Lebanon Humanitarian Fund of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). This contribution ensures the immediate funding of field operations to provide relief to those affected.
2. Strengthening Lebanon’s Health Sector. In close cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), Greece is providing 500,000 euros to support the Lebanese healthcare system. This funding concerns the implementation of the targeted program "Life-Saving and Limb-Saving Hospitalization", which will cover the hospitalization needs of vulnerable patients for one year, as well as the procurement of essential medical equipment.
3. Provision of Humanitarian Aid. A first transport and delivery of 3 tons of humanitarian aid to Beirut was successfully completed in cooperation with the 🇬🇷Ministry of National Defense. The cargo, which includes medical supplies, food, water, and essential relief items (including blankets), was transported by a C-130 aircraft of the Hellenic Air Force to Rafic Hariri International Airport. The aid was officially handed by the Embassy to the Ministry of Social Affairs of Lebanon and the High Relief Committee, in order to be distributed to the most vulnerable.
Through these actions, Greece reaffirms its commitment to defending human dignity and supporting neighboring countries in times of crisis, actively contributing to international humanitarian relief efforts.

📢Joint Statement on 🇱🇧Lebanon (14.04.2026)
We, Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Australia, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, call for the inclusion of Lebanon in the regional de-escalation efforts and urge all parties to work toward a lasting political solution. The continuation of the war in Lebanon puts at risks the current regional deescalation, which we have welcomed and must be fully respected by all parties.

We welcome the initiative by President Aoun to open direct talks with Israel and the acceptance by Israel to start the talks facilitated by the United States. We call on both parties to seize this opportunity. Direct negotiations can pave the way to bring lasting security for Lebanon and Israel as well as the region. We stand ready to support them. We therefore call upon all parties to urgently deescalate and seize the opportunity offered by the ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

We condemn in the strongest terms the attacks of Hezbollah against Israel which must cease immediately. We also condemn in the strongest terms the massive Israeli strikes on Lebanon conducted on 8 April which, according to the latest information shared by the Lebanese authorities, resulted in the death of more than 350 persons and wounded more than 1000. Civilians and civilian infrastructure must be protected in accordance with international humanitarian law.

We also condemn in the strongest terms the attacks against UNIFIL and we reiterate that the safety and security of UN peacekeepers must be ensured at all times.

We express our full solidarity and our steadfast support for the Lebanese people and authorities. We stand ready to provide emergency assistance to the more than one million displaced persons in Lebanon, in coordination with the Lebanese government.

We reaffirm the importance of respecting for Lebanon’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and for the full implementation of United Nations Security Council resolution 1701 (2006). We will continue to support the Lebanese state to exercise its full sovereignty over the whole Lebanese territory. In this context, we commend the decision of the Lebanese government to ban Hezbollah’s military activities, as well as its decision to reinforce the full imposition of state authority over Beirut and to have the sole monopoly on weapons, and we encourage full and swift implementation.

📢Joint statement on the situation in Lebanon 🇱🇧
31.03.2026 🇧🇪 🇭🇷 🇨🇾 🇫🇷 🇬🇷 🇮🇹 🇲🇹 🇳🇱 🇵🇹 🇬🇧 🇪🇺
We, Foreign Ministers of Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, and the United Kingdom, and the High Representative of the European Union, express our full support to the Government and people of Lebanon, who are once again suffering the dramatic consequences of a war that is not theirs. We express our condolences to the family of the victims and our solidarity to the civilian population impacted by this war both in Lebanon and Israel.

The responsibility for this situation lies with Hezbollah. We strongly condemn Hezbollah’s attacks in support of Iran against Israel, which must cease immediately. The priority is to avoid a further escalation of the regional conflict with Iran.

We support the historic and courageous decisions taken by the Lebanese Government. There is no other way to preserve Lebanon from foreign interference than by strengthening its State, its institutions and sovereignty. In that regard, we call for direct political negotiation between Lebanon and Israel, that can contribute to putting a durable end to this conflict and set the conditions for peaceful regional coexistence.

The Lebanese executive has our full support in its approach and we encourage it to continue on this path through the implementation of concrete and irreversible measures, at all levels, to restore its sovereignty over the whole Lebanese territory, including the State’s monopoly on arms. In this context, we are committed to support the Lebanese Armed Forces and Lebanese Security Forces, by participating actively in the international support conference to be held as soon as conditions allow. With a view to enabling the Lebanese security forces to become the sole independent guarantors of Lebanon’s sovereignty in the long term, we also call on the Lebanese authorities to continue to adopt the necessary financial and economic reforms, in line with IMF requirements.

We call on all parties to immediately deescalate and to revert to the cessation of hostilities agreement and UN Security Council resolution 1701 (2006). We call for the protection of the civilian population, humanitarian personnel, peacekeepers, and civilian infrastructure, including airport, ports and bridges across the country, in line with international humanitarian law. We reaffirm our concern regarding the forced displacement of over 1m people in Lebanon. We call on Israel to avoid a further widening of the conflict including through a ground operation on Lebanese territory. We strongly reaffirm that the territorial integrity of Lebanon must be respected.

We stand determined to continue to support the Lebanese government in providing humanitarian assistance to those affected by the conflict including the more than 1 million people displaced and to preserve Lebanon’s internal cohesion, building on the emergency measures already taken by our respective countries. We call on the entire international community to participate in this vital humanitarian effort to ensure dignified living conditions for the many victims of this conflict.

Finally, we reaffirm our strong support for the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in South Lebanon and call to ensure deconfliction channels remain open. We strongly condemn all recent attacks on UNIFIL contingents, which provoked unacceptable casualties among the peacekeepers in recent days. We urge all parties, under all circumstances, to ensure the safety and security of UNIFIL personnel and premises, in accordance with international law. We commend its remarkable work in these difficult conditions.
