Every woman deserves the support, dignity, and resources to make the best choices for herself and her family.

SLPWO proudly supports policies that INVEST in mothers, children, and communities. Because bringing a child into the world should never mean facing it alone.

We stand for:
✔ Financial support for expecting mothers
✔ Access to free and quality prenatal care, including labs and ultrasounds
✔ Early childhood education opportunities, from preschool to after-school programs
✔ Support for working mothers, including childcare initiatives
✔ Reduced financial burdens through education and facility assistance

These aren’t “handouts”—they are smart, compassionate investments in the future of our society.

Healthy mothers build strong families. Strong families build thriving communities.

Let’s move forward with policies that uplift, not judge. Support, not shame. Empower, not abandon.

Come enjoy some hearty home cooking.

Today, scores of members of the Saint Lucia Labour Party Women’s Organization (SLPWO) came together, transforming into blossoming “Pícassos” at a vibrant national event celebrating women.

This special gathering marked the culmination of activities and community outreach held across individual constituencies in commemoration of International Women’s Day 2026.

We were also joined by the Minister for Gender Affairs, Hon. Emma Hippolyte, who easily blended into the laughter and banter while painting one of the many stunning sunsets.

It was truly a joy to see sisters connect, share, laugh, and create, enjoying activities like paint and sip, treasure hunt, and artistic expression—all set against the backdrop of a charming country cabin in Mahaut.

Moments like these remind us of the strength, unity, and beauty of women coming together.

Message from the President of the Saint Lucia Labour Women’s Organizationb (SLPWO)
International Women’s Day 2026

Fellow Saint Lucian women, both here at home and throughout our diaspora, warm greetings to you on this International Women’s Day 2026.

Today we celebrate the strength, resilience, and leadership of women who continue to shape the social, economic, and political life of our beloved Saint Lucia. Today every woman must dig deep if necessary, but find something to celebrate. The progress of our nation has always been closely tied to the courage, sacrifice, and determination of women, as such, we must continue to stand up, speak out, and serve.

This year we reflect on the powerful theme “Give to Gain.” This theme speaks deeply to our values and is closely aligned with the long-standing mantras of the Saint Lucia Labour Party , Putting People First and Moving Forward Together.

These principles remind us that national development is strongest when we place the well-being of people at the center of our efforts, and when we work collectively, supporting and uplifting one another in pursuit of progress. In many ways, the idea of “Give to Gain” reflects that very philosophy: when we give our time, our talents, our compassion, and our leadership in service to others, we create the conditions for shared growth and collective advancement.

My own journey as a lifelong volunteer has taught me that when women give of themselves, the rewards are far greater than we often imagine. Volunteering has taken me into many communities and organizations, providing opportunities for learning, growth, and self-development. It has strengthened my skills and broadened my understanding of the challenges and aspirations of our people.

But beyond the skills and experiences, the greatest reward has always been the deep sense of fulfillment that comes from seeing the positive impact your contribution can have on a young woman who finds her voice, when a family receives support, when a community initiative succeeds, or when your efforts help improve a process or an institution that serves the public good.

That is the true meaning of “Give to Gain.”

When women give, we gain stronger families.
When women give, we gain stronger communities.
When women give, we gain a stronger and more just nation.

Throughout our history, women of the Labour movement have played a critical role in advocating for workers’ rights, social justice, equality, and opportunity for all. Our voices, our service, and our leadership have been essential to building a more inclusive and compassionate society.

Yet we know there is still work ahead.

We must continue to encourage greater participation of women in leadership, in community service, and in national development. We must mentor the next generation of women and girls so they recognize their strength, their potential, and their responsibility to contribute to the future of our country.

To our sisters in the diaspora, your continued connection to Saint Lucia, through your advocacy, support, and investment in our communities, remains invaluable. Your commitment reminds us that the spirit of Saint Lucian women extends far beyond our shores.

Today, I encourage every woman to embrace the spirit of “Give to Gain.” Give of your knowledge. Give of your compassion. Give of your leadership. Give of your time to causes that uplift others and strengthen our communities.

Let us continue to support one another, care for our communities, and build a Saint Lucia where every woman and girl has the opportunity to thrive.

Happy International Women’s Day.
