The Saint Lucia Kings clawed their way back from the brink of defeat, and with two balls remaining, Joshua Bishop delivered the final blow, a soaring six that clinched a threewicket triumph over the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons. On a rainhit evening at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, the Kings survived a stunning collapse before Bishop’s strike sealed one of the most dramatic finishes of the Caribbean Premier League.

Earlier, Matthew Forde delivered the standout performance with the ball, claiming 4 for 29 to put the Kings firmly in control before repeated rain interruptions reshaped the contest.
Opting to bowl first, captain Roston Chase saw his decision pay immediate dividends. Forde struck twice in successive deliveries, removing Lewis (1) and Tim Robinson (0) barely an over into the Falcons’ innings. He added a third scalp in the PowerPlay when Cornwall edged behind after threatening to accelerate (26).

At 44 for 3 after six overs, Antigua and Barbuda’s position worsened rapidly. Three wickets tumbled in the space of seven deliveries, Asalanka’s outstanding catch dismissed Moeen for (2), while Allen was run out without scoring. Amir Janggoo 23, Tajinder Singh 16, and Alzarri Joseph not out 16.
Forde completed his spell with figures of 4 for 29, Roston Chase 2 for 16 and Joshua Bishop two for seven before rain halted play with one over left in the innings.

On resumption, Saint Lucia were handed a revised chase of 84 from 15 overs. Chase opened with Gous but fell early to Seales for 1, and rain returned immediately, forcing another delay and a second recalculation, 52 runs required from eight overs.
The Falcons seized the momentum. Tight bowling and a string of dot balls-built pressure before Joshua James struck twice in consecutive deliveries to remove Charith Asalanka (2) and Darren Nedd (0). Suddenly, the Kings were reeling at 21 for 6.
Forde added a crucial 11, and van Schalkwyk lifted spirits with a vital six in the penultimate over to keep hopes alive.

Entering the final over, Saint Lucia Kings needed eight runs, with Bishop on strike against James. A crisp drive through the covers narrowed the equation, before Bishop launched a length ball over the ropes to seal an extraordinary three-wicket victory with two balls remaining. Bishop not out 11, and Shadley Van Schalkwyk not out 8.
The Kings will play Barbados Trident this evening, first ball 7.00 p.m.

Andre Fletcher’s composed unbeaten 48 guided the Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots to their first victory of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026, overcoming the Saint Lucia Kings on Wednesday evening at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground (DSCG).
The triumph was built on a commanding bowling display, with the Patriots striking early and closing strongly. Saurabh Netravalkar and Jason Holder set the tone in the powerplay, removing two top-order wickets and stifling Saint Lucia’s momentum.
The Kings found stability through Kamil Pooran (54) and Jewel Andrew (58), who stitched together a crucial 82-run third-wicket stand. Their measured approach rebuilt the innings, with Pooran celebrating his maiden T20 half-century and Andrew anchoring the effort with 58 from 42 balls. Yet the turning point arrived when Wanindu Hasaranga’s brilliant direct-hit from deep cover dismissed Pooran. From there, the Kings faltered, losing five wickets for just 22 runs in the final overs to finish on 155 for 8. Holder claimed 3 for 20, Netravalkar 3 for 32, and Obed McCoy chipped in with 1 for 34.
Chasing 156 for victory, the Patriots resisted any temptation to rush. Kyle Mayers provided early impetus with 32 before falling to Maheesh Theekshana, while Johnson Charles added 16. The Kings’ spinners, Theekshana and Roston Chase, briefly tightened the contest, removing Kevin Wickham (19) and Holder (10) as the required rate began to climb.
Fletcher, however, remained unflustered. He rotated the strike, absorbed pressure, and waited for the right bowlers to target. Once Theekshana and Chase had completed their spells, the Kings’ grip loosened. Fletcher seized the moment, steering the chase with calm assurance and sealing a five-wicket victory with his unbeaten 48.

Commercial Basketball action continued at the Beausejour Indoor Facility, with Saint Lucia Fire Service defeating Saint Lucia Teachers Union (SLTU) 49 - 46.
Teachers Union came prepared to teach a lesson, attempting to educate their opponents with disciplined basketball and a structured approach. However, on this occasion, it was SLFS who passed the test.
They led at the end of the first quarter, 12 - 6. Teachers roared back in the second quarter to lead by six (19–13), for a tied low-scoring half, 25 apiece. Saint Lucia Teachers Union seemed to have rewritten the lesson plan and found the right formula for a comeback in the second half, as they took the lead by three going into the fourth and decisive quarter.
Saint Lucia Fire Service raised the alarm defensively, turned up the heat on both ends, and prevented their opponents from establishing any rhythm in the fourth, putting out any potential spark from the educators. They took control of the fourth quarter and ended the game to win 49 - 46.
With the win, Fire Service had successfully completed their assignment, walking away with the victory, while Teachers Union were left to return to the classroom, review lessons, and prepare for the next test.
For Fire Service, Marcian Calderon finished with 14 points and 17 rebounds. Jerry Charles and Ajini Fredinand both added nine points, while Rahim August contributed seven points and seven rebounds.
For Saint Lucia Teachers Union, Meshark Du Boulay was the lone player in double figures with 17 points and seven steals. Darnvi St. Marthe added nine points and three rebounds, while Clendon Donai chipped in with seven points and 11 rebounds.
The action continues on Thursday, August 13, with Bweelz Fit Lifestyle versus Saint Lucia Fire Service at 6:30 p.m., followed by Top Ranking Electrical versus Police at 8:30 p.m.
