The Bahamas recently implemented a nationwide plastic ban, details about this ban are available on the Ministry of Environment and Housing page and website: http://www.plasticfree242.com/

Take action this week and go plastic-free!

Comment if you’re up for the challenge and tag us in your post and use to show us how you decided to to reduce Plastic Pollution in The Bahamas.

Why reduce plastic pollution? Why ban plastic?
Our marine environment is directly linked to our identity and plastic pollution is the number one kind of marine debris negatively impacting the health of our ocean.

Plastic and Styrofoam also have effects on our health! Styrofoam released harmful toxins when used in a microwave. These toxins can cause skin and eye irritation, as well as damage to other organs!

Here are some tips from Bahamas Plastic Movement on how you can Take Action and move away from plastic dependency!
https://www.bahamasplasticmovement.org/learn

> Bring a reusable mug for coffee and tea at local coffee shops;
> Bring your own washable dishware and utensils to work or school;
> Carry a reusable straw when you leave home OR say no to straws when you order drinks; and
> Serve guests food and drinks on reusable dishware OR encourage them to bring their own cup/bottle!

Check out how you can get involved with Bahamas Plastic Movement!

A new Coral Nursery has been established in the north of Saint Lucia in Cutty Cove in collaboration with the Saint Lucia Diver Association (ANBAGLO) and The , further expanding our .

The nursery is part of a project in the north which has included the sinking of wrecks to create artificial reefs to encourage more diving in the area to ease pressure in the south. Project leads Donovan N Brown and Eget Martyr of Eastern Caribbean Diving St Lucia engaged local young people to become involved with assisting and maintaining the projects. ⠀

The new nursery consists of ten trees growing a total of 500 fragments. Both Acropora cervicornis (staghorn coral) and Acropora palmata (elkhorn coral) are being grown and once large enough will be trimmed and outplanted to nearby reefs to help regenerate these precious ecosystems and assist in saving the species. ⠀

You can become a @ Reef Rescue Diver at this nursery with one of the newly certified PADI Reef Rescue Instructors

Looking for local guides in Saint Lucia

Hello!

In ToursByLocals.com we are currently looking for new guides in Castries that can provide excellent private tours for our travellers. ToursBylocals is a website that connects independent local tour guides, like you, with travellers from all around the world.

To add a bit more, guides apply to join our team and, upon acceptance, create their own personal profile and a selection of tours for travellers to book. In exchange for covering expenses like payment processing, commissions to travel agents, and marketing, we earn a commission (20%) on each tour booking.

Our guide partners set their own tour prices, so there is no risk that our commission would impact a guide's expected earnings. This commission is our only fee, so our own success truly relies on the success of each of our guide partners.

We work with more than 2500 independent tour guides in 158 countries. We work to support our guide partners by advertising them through our website and promoting their online profiles and tours.

We'd like to have the chance to talk to you so we can give you more details about our business opportunity.

If you are interested please, apply here and join our team!
