43 BOOKS TO MARCHAND LIBRARY

The CARICOM Youth Ambassadors for Saint Lucia Ms. Raejean Montoute and Mr. Yakub Nestor donates 43 books to the Marchand Library in recognition of Saint Lucia's 43rd Independence Anniversary and in support of CARICOM Youth Development Goal #1 - Education and Economic Empowerment.

Ms. Oliviann Weekes, Librarian attached to the facility, delighted as she was received the donation on behalf of the library.

The CYA's would like to take this opportunity to wish all Saint Lucians a Happy 43rd Anniversary 🇱🇨 and looks forward to contributing more towards youth and educational development in Saint Lucia.

Dr. Travis Weekes is an award-winning Saint Lucian actor, poet, playwright, director, and cultural critic. He studied Literature at the University of the West Indies, Mona; Theatre at the Jamaica School of Drama and Cultural Studies at the Cave Campus of UWI. As an academic, Dr. Weekes focuses on the creole traditions and discourse in work of Nobel Prize winner, the late Derek Walcott. He also uses this research to develop innovative dramaturgical approaches to his own theatre practice both as a playwright and director. Dr. Weekes, currently a lecturer in Theatre at the Department of Creative and Festival Arts, UWI, Saint Augustine, has recently published two of his plays; The Fight for Belle Vue and The Field of Power.

Online Training Opportunities Extended to October 31st 2020

The Government of Saint Lucia, through the Department of Education, Innovation and Gender Relations, in collaboration with The Commonwealth of Learning is making a wide variety of university level courses via the Coursera online learning platform available FREE of costuntil December 31st 2020.

The intention is to provide free Online Training opportunities to the general population in order to improve their skills, capacities and competencies so that their their employability and productivity can be increased in light of the new normal that is being forged by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College wishes to inform the general public that there has not been an increase in fees as is being reflected in social media posts. Fees for continuing students remain the same.
The fees referenced in the social media posts are specific to the college’s professional programmes that are traditionally offered to mature students as certification in their field of work, for example, Social Work, Criminal Justice and Paralegal Studies.

A tropical storm warning has been issued for Saint Lucia, with effect from 5 a.m. today. Tropical storm warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected within the warning area within 36 hours.
On it's current track, the center of Tropical Storm Gonzalo is expected to pass near Saint Lucia on Saturday. There is still a chance that Gonzalo could become a hurricane before reaching the Windward Islands.

• Rosetta Stone: a platform which provides training in different languages. We urge you to learn a new language while at home.

registration of all artist interested in working with the Saint Lucia National Youth Council
