✨ A Night of Transition, Gratitude, and Fellowship! ✨

Last night marked a momentous milestone for the Rotary Club of Uva Hills (District 3220 ) as we gathered at the Capital City Hotel, Badulla, for our first meeting of the Rotary Year 2026/2027 and our official Presidential Office Handover Ceremony! 🌟

​The evening was filled with immense pride as we looked back on a phenomenal Rotary Year 2025/2026. We extend our deepest gratitude to our Outgoing President, Rtn. Range Asitha Nalinda , and his incredible team for their tireless dedication, leadership, and outstanding service to our community.

​A massive shoutout and heartfelt recognition go to all our hardworking members whose relentless efforts and backstage dedication made the projects of the past year such a resounding success. You are the true driving force behind our impact! ⚙️❤️

​The highlight of the night was the formal Collaring Ceremony, passing the mantle of leadership to our newly elected President, Rtn. Aditha Dharmasena, With a brilliant new Board of Directors introduced and vibrant new members officially welcomed into our Rotary family, we are ready to create impact this year!

🎵A Symphony of Gratitude 🎵

​There are moments in Rotary that remind us exactly why we do what we do. During our project handing over musical instruments to the talented students of Dambarawa Maha Vidyalaya, we were treated to the most beautiful surprise.

​The children sang this incredible song of thanks, filling the room with so much joy and pure talent. Hearing them bring music to life with such passion makes every bit of our service worth it.

🎵 HARMONY FOR TOMORROW: A Dream Realized on Day One! 🎵

​What an unforgettable way to begin the new Rotary year! On July 1st, marking the very first day of our newly appointed President's tenure, the Rotary Club of Uva Hills set out to Mahiyanganaya to turn a long-held dream into reality.

​We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our flagship project: donating a comprehensive set of musical instruments to equip the Western Band of Dambarawa Maha Vidyalaya, Mahiyanganaya! 🎺🥁

​🌟 The Story Behind the Music
​Dambarawa Maha Vidyalaya is a rural school serving over 650 bright, talented co-educational students. The school has dedicated, qualified music teachers with the passion to teach, but due to severe funding shortages, they lacked the physical instruments to actually form a band. For years, the students' musical aspirations remained just out of reach.

Recognizing this gap, our club stepped in on Day One to bridge it.

​💖 An Unforgettable Handover
​When our delegation presented the instruments, the energy at the school was pure magic. The sheer excitement on the faces of 650 children seeing their dream materialize was a deeply moving reminder of why we serve.

The emotional impact was best captured by the faculty themselves, who shared that they were left entirely speechless and lacked the words to express the depth of their gratitude.

​By breaking down financial barriers to creative education, we haven't just gifted instruments—we have unlocked potential, built confidence, and leveled the playing field for these incredible rural students. We cannot wait to see and hear the Dambarawa Maha Vidyalaya Western Band perform with pride!

Commemorating Day 1: First Project of the Rotary Year 2026/2027

To mark the very first day of our new President Aditha Dharmasena's tenure, we hit the ground running with a vital community service project focused on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in education.

We are proud to have donated toilet scoring pans to Al Adhan Maha Vidyalaya, Badulla.

​🏫 About the School:
Impact: Serving 750 students in a co-educational (mixed-gender) learning environment for last 85 years.

Scope: Educating children from Grade 1 all the way to Advanced Level (A/L) across all academic streams.

This donation aims to improve the daily sanitation standards at the school, ensuring a healthier, cleaner, and more dignified environment for both male and female students to thrive in.
