High Commissioner Isabelle Martin was pleased to join the opening of the National Police Academy’s first International Research Conference, themed “Transnational Crime and Social Protection”.

The conference coincides with an important milestone as the Sri Lanka Police celebrates 160 years of service.

Encouraging to see the results of meaningful engagement by Canadians of Sri Lankan origin!

During her travels in the , High Commissioner Isabelle Martin enjoyed a wholesome meal at "Made in Mullaitivu", a cafe launched as part of an initiative by the Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC) in partnership with the Northeast Economic Development (NEED) Centre.

In , she joined the soft opening of Yarl Paanam, a traditional Jaffna-style juice bar startup backed by Rajan Bala, that celebrates Jaffna’s fresh, herbal, and Ayurvedic flavours.

High Commissioner Martin also toured the Green Memorial Hospital Manipay which continues to benefit through support from well-wishers of Sri Lankan origin living in and across the world.

Later at the District General Hospital, High Commissioner Martin took part in an event to hand over two of the six hemodialysis machines donated by Canadian philanthropist Senthil Kumaran on behalf of Canadian donors through his charity Nivaranam.

These initiatives are a testament to the potential of connections that empower communities, support local livelihoods, and contribute to .

High Commissioner Isabelle Martin was inspired to meet the talented young teams who were part of the (YGC) innovation festival.

She also visited Hatch Jaffna and met with supported through the Growth, Resilience, Investment, and Training (GRIT) project.

👏 A big shout out to WUSC Sri Lanka for helping make the YGC festival a success and for supporting impactful programming at HATCH Jaffna and Yarl IT Hub.
