1926 වර්ෂයේදී පිහිටුවන ලද රජයේ වෛද්ය නිළධාරීන්ගේ සංගමයේ සියවන සංවත්සරයේ ප්රධාන නිල සැමරුම් උත්සවය “දැයක් සුවපත් කළ සියවසක්”යන තේමාව යටතේ 2026 මැයි මස 13 වන දින කොළඹ බණ්ඩාරනායක ජාත්යන්තර සම්මන්ත්රණ ශාලා පරිශ්රයේදී ඉතා අභිමානනීය අන්දමින් පැවැත්වින.
ලෝක සෞඛ්ය සංවිධානයේ ශ්රී ලංකා නියෝජිත වෛද්ය රාජේශ් සම්භාජිරාඕ පාණ්ඩව් මහතා ප්රධාන ආරාධිතයා ලෙස සහභාගි වූ මෙම උත්සවයේ ප්රධාන ආරාධිත දේශනය සෞඛ්ය අමාත්යාංශයේ හිටපු ලේකම් විශේෂඥ වෛද්ය පාලිත මහීපාල මහතා විසින් සිදු කරන ලද අතර කොළඹ වෛද්ය පීඨයේ පීඨාධිපති, මහාචාර්ය වජිර දිසානායක මහතා විසින්ද විශේෂ දේශනයක් සිදුකරන ලදී.
මෙම අවස්ථාව වෙනුවෙන් හිටපු ජනාධිපතිවරුන්, පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්රීවරුන්, පක්ශ විපක්ෂ දේශපාලන පක්ශ නියෝජිතයින්, රාජ්ය තාන්ත්රිකයින්, සෞඛ්ය අමාත්යාංශයේ නියෝජිතයන්, වෛද්ය විද්යාල උපකුලපතිවරුන්, පීඨාධිපතිවරුන් ඇතුලු ආචාර්යවරුන්, ශ්රී ලංකා වෛද්ය සභාව, ශ්රී ලංකා වෛද්ය සංගමය, විශේෂඥ වෛද්යවරුන්ගේ විද්යායතන, ත්රිවිධ හමුදා නිලධාරීන්, නීතිඥයින්, ක්ෂේත්ර ගණනාවක වෘත්තීයවේදීන්, විශේෂඥ වෛද්යවරුන්, පරිපාලන වෛද්යවරුන් ඇතුළු වෛද්යවරුන්, රජයේ වෛද්ය නිලධාරීන්ගේ සංගමයේ නිළධාරීන් සහ සාමාජිකයින්, වෘත්තීය සමිති නියෝජිතයින්, මාධ්යවේදීන් ඇතුළු ආරාධිතයින් විශාල පිරිසක් සහභාගී විය.
රජයේ වෛද්ය නිලධාරීන්ගේ සංගමයේ ශත සංවත්සරය වෙනුවෙන් විශේෂ මුද්දරයක් සහ මුල් දින කවරයක් එළිදැක්වීම මෙහිදී සිදු කෙරුණු අතර රජයේ වෛද්ය නිළධාරීන්ගේ සංගමයේ නිළ වෙබ් අඩවිය සහ ජංගම යෙදුම (Mobile App) එළි දැක්වීම ද මේ හා සමගාමීව සිදු කෙරිණ.
සංගමයේ සියවස් සැමරුම වෙනුවෙන් විශේෂ තේමා ගීතයක්ද එළිදක්වන ලදී.
ගෙවුණු ශත වර්ෂයක කාල සීමාව තුළදී ශ්රී ලාංකීය වෛද්යවරුන් සහ රජයේ වෛද්ය නිලධාරීන්ගේ සංගමය, මෙරට නිදහස් සෞඛ්ය සේවාව වෙනුවෙන් සහ සුවහසක් ජන ජීවිත සුවපත් කිරීම වෙනුවෙන් සිදු කරන ලද ඓතිහාසික කාර්යභාරය මෙහිදී සාකච්ඡාවට සහ ඇගයීමට ලක් කරන ලදී.
The main official Centenary Celebration of the Government Medical Officers’ Association, which was established in 1926, was held on May 13, 2026, at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall under the theme, “A Century of Healing the Nation.”
The event was graced by the participation of Dr. Rajesh Sambhajirao Pandav, the Sri Lanka Representative of the World Health Organization, as the Chief Guest.
The keynote address was delivered by former Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Dr. Palitha Mahipala, while the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Professor Vajira Dissanayake, also delivered a special address.
A large number of distinguished invitees attended the event, including former Presidents, Members of Parliament, representatives of political parties, diplomats, representatives of the Ministry of Health, Vice Chancellors and Deans of medical faculties together with academic staff, representatives of the Sri Lanka Medical Council, Sri Lanka Medical Association, colleges of Specialist Medical professionals, tri-forces officers, legal professionals, professionals from various sectors, specialist doctors, administrative medical officers, Grade medical officers, Past officials and Trustees of organization, Executive Committee members, all officials and members of the Government Medical Officers’ Association, trade union representatives, media personnel, and many other invitees.
On this occasion, a special commemorative stamp and first-day cover were launched to mark the centenary of the Government Medical Officers’ Association.
The official website and mobile application of the Association were also launched concurrently.
A special theme song commemorating the centenary celebrations was also unveiled.
During the event, the historic contribution made by Sri Lankan doctors and the Government Medical Officers’ Association over the past century towards safeguarding the country’s free healthcare service and improving the lives of countless people was discussed and appreciated.
