Promoting Ceylon Tea in Northwest China

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing successfully promoted Ceylon Tea at the 32nd China Lanzhou Investment and Trade Fair, held from 9–13 July 2026 in Lanzhou, Gansu Province, China.

The Ceylon Tea Pavilion featured the participation of the tea importing representatives of Imperial Tea Exports (Pvt) Ltd and Sinolan Tea (Pvt) Ltd, who showcased premium Ceylon Tea products and engaged with Chinese importers, distributors, business representatives, and consumers through product presentations and tea tasting sessions.

The event provided an important platform to enhance awareness of authentic Ceylon Tea, highlight Sri Lanka’s rich tea heritage and world-renowned quality, and explore new opportunities to expand the presence of Ceylon Tea in Gansu Province and the wider Northwest China market.

Promoting Sri Lanka at Capital Club, Beijing-China
Sri Lanka promotional event at the Capital Club, Beijing, successfully brought together an exclusive audience of business leaders and professionals, featuring joint presentations on Ceylon Tea and Sri Lanka Tourism. The program included a curated Ceylon Tea tasting experience, traditional Sri Lankan sweets, and a live tea ceremony performance showcasing the heritage and artistry of Sri Lankan tea culture. Both tea and tourism sectors were presented by the officials of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing to highlight Sri Lanka’s premium offerings, emphasizing its global reputation as an authentic origin of Ceylon Tea as well as its rich cultural heritage, natural attractions, and distinctive travel experiences. The event generated strong engagement and media coverage, further enhancing Sri Lanka’s visibility in the Chinese market as a premier destination for tea and tourism.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing successfully organized the Sri Lanka Pavilion at the 4th Supply Chain Expo 2026, held in Beijing from 22–26 June 2026, showcasing Sri Lanka's premium export products with Ceylon Tea as the main attraction. The participation reinforced the global reputation of Ceylon Tea, while promoting Ceylon Cinnamon, Ceylon Gems, and Sri Lankan Handicrafts. The Expo also highlighted the importance of Sri Lanka's continuous presence at major trade exhibitions across China to strengthen brand visibility, expand trade opportunities, and further enhance the growing economic partnership between Sri Lanka and China.

Ceylon Tea Strengthens Its Presence in China at the South Asia Commodity Tea Festival 2026, Kunming-China
The Tea Promotion Unit of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing represented Ceylon Tea at the South Asia Commodity Tea Festival 2026 held alongside the South Asia Commodity Expo in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.
The event was graced by Hon. Wasantha Samarasinghe, Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development, who attended as the Chief Guest, alongside senior government officials, tea industry leaders, trade associations, and international stakeholders from China and South Asia.
A presentation on the Sri Lankan tea industry was delivered by the officials of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing, highlighting the unique heritage, premium quality, and global reputation of Ceylon Tea, while showcasing opportunities to further strengthen tea trade and cooperation between Sri Lanka and China.
