Sri Lankaโs external sector continued to reflect the impact of developments in the Middle East, with the current account recording its third consecutive monthly deficit.

๐ธ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐๐ซ๐ฌโ ๐ซ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ญ๐๐ง๐๐๐ฌ remained resilient, increasing by 9.3% (y-o-y) to US$ 695 mn in June, with cumulative inflows reaching US$ 4.6 bn during the first half of 2026.
๐ The ๐ ๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ง๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐ฌ๐๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฌ ๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ค๐๐ญ recorded a net foreign inflow during the month.
๐ฐ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐๐๐๐ข๐๐ข๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐ฏ๐๐ฌ stood at US$ 6.5 bn at end June 2026, despite sizeable external debt service payments.
