OMP Conducts Inquiry Sessions for Gampaha District Families

The Office on Missing Persons (OMP) conducted preliminary inquiry sessions on 16 and 17 July 2026 for families from Gampaha District, providing them with an opportunity to share information and personal accounts relating to their missing loved ones.

The OMP remains committed to supporting families in their search for truth, ensuring that every complaint receives careful attention and that those affected are engaged with dignity, sensitivity, and respect.

The Office on Missing Persons (OMP) conducted preliminary inquiry sessions on 21, 22, and 23 July 2026 in Batticaloa District, providing families with an opportunity to share information and personal accounts relating to their missing loved ones.

The OMP remains committed to supporting families in their search for truth, ensuring that every complaint receives careful attention and that those affected are engaged with dignity, sensitivity, and respect.

OMP Strengthens Tracing and Investigation Capacity Through Three-Day Residential Training Programme

The Office on Missing Persons (OMP) successfully conducted a three-day residential training programme from 14–16 July 2026 at the National Police Academy, Thimbirigaskatuwa, Negombo.

Initiated under the visionary leadership of OMP Chairman Mr. Mahesh Katulanda, the programme focused on enhancing technical strategies and strengthening the capacity of officers attached to the Tracing & Investigation Unit.

The inaugural session was graced by Ms. Angelique Appeyroux, Country Resident Coordinator of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), together with OMP Chairman Mr. Mahesh Katulanda, Board Members Mrs. Sithy Dane Arfa Thassim nee Hassim, Mr. Vadivel Krishnamoorthy, and Mr. Mirak Raheem, alongside dedicated officers of the Tracing & Investigation Unit.

This initiative marks another significant step in strengthening the operational effectiveness and investigative capacity of the OMP in fulfilling its mandate.
