An Orientation Programme for Youth under the “Integrated Actions for Social Cohesion through Gathering, Networking and Dialogue Sharing – Youth and Community” project, implemented by the Chelvanayakam Memorial Trust (CMT) in collaboration with the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR), was successfully held on 04 September 2026 in Nachchikkuda village, Poonakary Division, Kilinochchi District.

The programme provided an opportunity for youth to gain an understanding of the project objectives, planned activities, and their expected role in the initiative. Discussions also focused on the importance of youth engagement in promoting peace, reconciliation, social cohesion, mutual understanding, dialogue, and community networking.

The orientation marked an important first step towards empowering young people to actively contribute to positive change and strengthen social cohesion at the community level. 🕊️🤝🌱

💬 The session focused on the objectives and planned activities of the project, as well as the role of youth in strengthening peace, reconciliation, and social cohesion at the community level. The importance of dialogue, communication, networking, and experience-sharing among young people from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds was also highlighted.

எமது கம்போடியா பயணங்களின்போது சிங்கப்பூரில் எமக்கு பல்வேறு உதவிகளை வழங்கிய திருமதி கௌரி ஆனந்தன் அவர்களின் அன்புத் தந்தை திரு. நித்தியானந்தன் அவர்கள் (முன்னாள் அரச நிர்வாக உத்தியோகத்தர்), கடந்த 04.08.2026 அன்று காலை கொழும்பு, தெகிவளையில் காலமானார் என்பதை ஆழ்ந்த வருத்தத்துடன் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கின்றோம்.

அன்னாரின் இறுதிக் கிரியைகள் 05.08.2026 அன்று கொழும்பில் நடைபெற்றன.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Mr. Nithiyananthan, a former Government Administrative Officer and the beloved father of Mrs. Gowri Anandan, who kindly supported and assisted us in Singapore during our travels to Cambodia.

Mr. Nithiyananthan passed away on the morning of 4 August 2026 in Dehiwala, Colombo. His final rites were held in Colombo on 5 August 2026.

We extend our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to Mrs. Gowri Anandan and her family during this difficult time.

The three-day Training of Peace Facilitators, conducted under the “Integrated Actions for Social Cohesion through Gathering, Networking and Dialogue Sharing – Youth and Community” project, implemented by the Chelvanayakam Memorial Trust (CMT) in collaboration with the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR), successfully concluded today (02.08.2026) in Kilinochchi. The training brought together 15 youth and community activists representing the Northern Province.

🤝 Through interactive discussions, group activities, and experience-sharing, participants strengthened their knowledge and facilitation skills to promote peace, reconciliation, and social cohesion within their communities. The second day of the three-day Training of Peace Facilitators, conducted under the “Integrated Actions for Social Cohesion through Gathering, Networking and Dialogue Sharing – Youth and Community” project, implemented by the Chelvanayakam Memorial Trust (CMT) in collaboration with the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR), continued today (01 August 2026) at the Kilinochchi Peace Gallery premises.

👥 15 participants, including youth and community activists representing the Northern Province, continue to actively take part in the training.

🤝 The second-day sessions focused on further strengthening participants’ knowledge, skills, and approaches required to promote peace, reconciliation, and social cohesion at the community level.

💬 Through discussions, experience-sharing, and participatory learning activities, the sessions placed particular emphasis on promoting dialogue among communities and strengthening participants’ capacities to effectively facilitate peacebuilding initiatives.

As part of the “Integrated Actions for Social Cohesion through Gathering, Networking and Dialogue Sharing – Youth and Community” project, implemented by the Chelvanayakam Memorial Trust (CMT) in collaboration with the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR), a three-day Training of Peace Facilitators commenced on 31 July 2026 at the Kilinochchi Peace Gallery premises as the first phase of the project’s activities.

👥 The training brings together 15 participants, including youth and community activists representing the Northern Province.

🤝 The main objective of the training is to enhance participants’ knowledge, skills, and approaches required to facilitate peacebuilding activities and strengthen peace, reconciliation, and social cohesion at the community level. எமது சமாதானத்திற்கான எதிர்காலம் நிகழ்ச்சித் திட்டத்தின் சமாதான கண்காட்சிகூட இலகுபடுத்துனராக (Gallery Facilitator) கடமையாற்றும் தினோஜன் அவர்களின் அன்பு அப்பாம்மா காலமான செய்தி கேட்டு நாம் மிகுந்த அதிர்ச்சியும் வேதனையும் அடைகிறோம்.
இந்தத் துயரமான வேளையில், தனது பாசத்திற்குரிய அப்பாம்மாவை இழந்து தவிக்கும் தினோஜன் அவர்களுக்கும், அவர் தம் குடும்பத்தினருக்கும் எமது ஆழ்ந்த இரங்கல்களைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறோம்.
அன்னாரின் ஆத்மா இறைவனடி நிழலில் இளைப்பாறவும், இந்த ஈடுசெய்ய முடியாத பேரிழப்பைத் தாங்கும் சக்தியை குடும்பத்தினருக்கு இறைவன் வழங்கவும் பிரார்த்திக்கின்றோம்.
