We were delighted to welcome 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗺𝘀, Vice President – AI & Innovation Delivery at Virtual Force Inc. in the USA and Consultant at the Al-Khwarizmi Institute of Computer Science, UET Lahore, for an insightful Tech Talk held on 𝟯𝟬 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 at the Department of Computer Science, University of Jaffna.

The session explored 𝗔𝗜 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀, and 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗔𝗜, providing students with valuable insights into emerging developments in Artificial Intelligence and future research opportunities.

The session was also held as part of the 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗦𝗔𝗟 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁, funded by the 𝗗𝗔𝗔𝗗-𝗦𝗗𝗚 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺. DigSAL is a collaboration between the 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗝𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗻𝗮, 𝗨𝗘𝗧 𝗟𝗮𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲, 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘄𝗮, and the 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘇, working towards building language resources for 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀.

Guided by the theme, "Technology with Purpose: Innovate Responsibly, Inspire Globally, Lead with Integrity," the event brought together students, industry professionals, and technology enthusiasts to explore cybersecurity career opportunities, emerging technologies, and the skills needed to succeed in the digital era.

The inspiring sessions encouraged participants to innovate with purpose, lead with integrity, and confidently pursue impactful careers in technology.

This month, we proudly celebrate three outstanding volunteers whose remarkable efforts, teamwork, and commitment have contributed greatly to the growth of our community.

𝗠𝗼𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 (𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗿 - 𝗜𝗘𝗘𝗘 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵, 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗝𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗻𝗮)

A masterclass in teamwork, his contributions throughout June perfectly balanced strict financial accountability with dynamic, hands-on coordination. His proactive ex*****on of premier mid-year initiatives including WIE Day 2026 and the Career Compass Northern Province events, proved vital in managing resources and ensuring a seamless delivery across the board.

𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝗶 ( 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 - 𝗪𝗜𝗘 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 )

She actively contributed throughout June by creating event reports for the AI-Powered Software Development Workshop, Your Degree, Your Career Tech Talk, and WIE Day 2026. She also supported the organization of WIE Day 2026, participated in all WIE events held during the month, and completed her responsibilities diligently.

Over four engaging sessions held on May 23, 24, 28, and 30, women entrepreneurs came together to develop practical digital skills that can help grow and strengthen their businesses in the digital era.

This training series was organized by the IEEE Women in Engineering Student Branch Affinity Group, University of Jaffna, in collaboration with Yarl IT Hub through its WEHub initiative, with the aim of empowering women entrepreneurs through technology and digital innovation.

A heartfelt thank you to all participants for their enthusiasm, active engagement, and commitment throughout the training series. Your passion for learning made this initiative truly impactful.
