🚜 Project Update – Vaddukoddai Dairy Plant 🥛

We're delighted to share that the Vaddukoddai Dairy Plant successfully commenced trial production last week! 🎉

Our team has completed comprehensive training for the plant staff on:

- 🥛 Food processing
- ⚙️ Machinery operation
- 🦺 Food safety and occupational health & safety

After remaining idle for five years, this dairy plant has finally been brought back to life. Seeing it become operational again is a proud milestone and a testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved.

This is an important step towards strengthening the local dairy industry, creating sustainable livelihood opportunities, and supporting our farming communities.

Tech Ceylon Engineers successfully conducted a half-day technical workshop on paddy dryers and paddy sorting machinery upon the request and invitation of the Puthukkudiyiruppu Divisional Secretary in Mullaitivu District.

The programme was attended by the Planning Unit staff of the Puthukkudiyiruppu Divisional Secretariat, the Planning Unit staff of the Maritimepattu Divisional Secretariat, and members of the Prajashakthi regional farmers groups.

A detailed technical presentation was delivered covering the fundamentals of paddy drying systems, selection criteria for paddy dryers, capacity determination, suitable and sustainable energy sources, operational processes, operational costs, maintenance and servicing schedules, and common operational challenges. In addition, a comprehensive technical explanation was provided on seed paddy sorting and separating machinery.

The participants, including staff members and regional Prajashakthi farmer groups, actively engaged throughout the session, and their technical queries and clarifications were addressed during the discussion.

Project Progress Update – Vaddukottai LIBCO Project

The Vaddukottai LIBCO project is progressing steadily toward the planned trial production phase. The aluminum fitting and partition installation works, carried out in compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) requirements, are now reaching their final stage. These modifications are expected to enhance hygiene standards, workflow efficiency, and overall production compliance within the facility.

Simultaneously, the repair, servicing, and performance optimization of key equipment and machinery are continuing as scheduled to ensure smooth and reliable plant operations before commissioning. The technical team is closely monitoring all activities to achieve the targeted trial production timeline successfully.

Further infrastructure improvements and system testing activities are also being coordinated in parallel to support operational readiness. More progress updates will be shared soon as the project moves into the next phase of implementation.

Project Progress Update – Thiruvaiyaru Pappadam Project, Kilinochchi District

Machinery servicing and replacement of essential components are progressing continuously, while civil and infrastructure modification works are being accelerated to meet GMP certification requirements. At the same time, the existing power supply system is being upgraded to support the new production line.

All three specialist contractor teams are currently on-site and working towards achieving the project deadline efficiently. Further progress updates will be shared continuously.

Progress Update – Vaddukottai Dairy Project

The water treatment plant installation works have commenced successfully. Water softener salt replacement has been completed, while aluminum fitting and modification works are currently in progress to comply with GMP certification requirements. Further updates will be shared as the project progresses.

Progress Update – Thiruvaiyaru Pappadam Production Unit, Kilinochchi.

Machinery dismantling and mechanical servicing works are currently in progress. Simultaneously, civil infrastructure modification works are also being carried out.

In March this year, Tech Ceylon engineers visited an idle dairy plant located in Vaddukottai, Jaffna District, Northern Province, following a request from the Hon. Governor’s Office of the Northern Province. Our engineering team assessed the current condition of the facility and submitted a comprehensive reactivation report. The proposal was subsequently approved, and the project commenced in mid-April. Rehabilitation and modification works are currently in progress, with trial production targeted for mid-May. Further progress updates will be shared accordingly.

Project Start Update:

Our Engineering Team conducted a detailed evaluation of the long-idle pappadam production unit in Kilinochchi in June last year. Based on this comprehensive assessment, a reactivation plan was developed and subsequently approved. The project is now ready for ex*****on, and our team is currently on-site to commence the work. Further updates will be shared as progress continues.
