India in Sri Lanka - AHCI, Kandy Assistant High Commission of India in Kandy, Sri Lanka

The Assistant High Commission of India (AHCI) is the only foreign Diplomatic Post in Kandy which has an aura of itself. It was set up as far back as in 1923 as the Office of the then Government of India Agent, with the objective to mainly look after the welfare of the Indian labourers brought by the British Raj to work at the coffee, tea, and rubber plantation sectors set up in Upcountry Sri Lanka

. In the post-Independence period, it served as Visa Office of the High Commission of India in Colombo and in 1967 it was re-christened as the office of the Assistant High Commission of India, Kandy.

India in Sri Lanka - AHCI, Kandy, in association with the Chamber of Commerce – Central Province, organised the Indo-Ceylon Business Connect, bringing together 🇮🇳 & 🇱🇰 business communities to strengthen trade and explore new avenues for cross-border collaboration.

Hoisting the Tiranga in Kandy 🇮🇳

India in Sri Lanka - AHCI, Kandy celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India in Kandy with patriotic fervour!
The celebrations commenced with the mass singing of India’s National Song, . AHC Ms. Saranya V. S. then hoisted the Tiranga and read out excerpts from the address of Hon’ble President of India. Members of the Indian community and Indian diaspora, eminent personalities, and friends of India joined the celebrations and marked this significant occasion with pride and enthusiasm.
