Tourism Information Centre established at Nuwara Eliya Public Library

The Department of Trade, Commerce and Tourism, in Central Province, established a Tourist Information Center covering the Nuwara Eliya region recently (2024/12/24) at the Nuwara Eliya Library premises recognizing the need to provide prompt and reliable information for the development of the tourism sector.
The opening of this Tourist Information Center, which is operated with the support of the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council, was attended by the Director of the Central Provincial Department of Trade, Commerce and Tourism, Mrs. Sandamali Hewage, the Municipal Commissioner of the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council, Mr. K.M.H.W. Bandara, the Assistant Commissioner of Local Government, Mr. Y.P. Wijebandara, and a team of government officials and various sectors of the tourism sector.

සංචාරක ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ ගුණාත්මක වර්ධනය වෙනුවෙන් කඩිනම් මෙන්ම විශ්වසනීය තොරතුරු ලබා දීමේ අවශ්‍යතාවය හඳුනාගනිමින්, මධ්‍යම පළාත් වෙළඳ, වාණිජ හා සංචාරක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් නුවරඑළිය කලාපය ආවරණය වන පරිදි ස්ථාපිත කරන ලද සංචාරක තොරතුරු මධ්‍යස්ථානය පසුගියදා (2024/12/24) නුවරඑළිය පුස්තකාල පරිශ්‍රයේදී සුබ මොහොතින් විවෘත විය.
නුවරඑළිය මහ නගර සභාවේ සහයෝගය මත ක්‍රියාත්මක වන මෙම සංචාරක තොරතුරු මධ්‍යස්ථානය විවෘත කිරීමේ අවස්ථාවට මධ්‍යම පළාත් වෙළඳ, වාණිජ හා සංචාරක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ අධ්‍යෂ,සඳමාලී හේවගේ මහත්මිය, නුවරඑළිය මහ නගර සභාවේ නාගරික කොමසාරිස්, කේ.එම්.එච්.ඩබ්ලිව්. බණ්ඩාර මහතා, සහකාර පළාත් පාලන කොමසාරිස්, වයි.පී. විජේබණ්ඩාර මහතා ඇතුලු රාජ්‍ය නිලධාරීන් මෙන්ම සංචාරක ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ විවිධ අංශයන් හි නියුතු පිරිසක් සහභාගිවිය.

"Angampora" show

The Department of Trade, Commerce and Tourism in Central Province has organized an ancient Sinhalese martial art show "Angampora" around Sigiriya tourist zone with the purpose of promoting the tourism industry in Sigiriya tourist zone. The traditional Angampora show will be held on 26th December 2024 at 9.30 am at the west entrance of Sigiriya.
You all are cordially invited to join us to be amazed by the masterpiece of ancient Sinhalese martial arts!

ආශ්‍රිතව සාම්ප්‍රදායික අංගම්පොර සංදර්ශනයක් පැවැත්වීමට කටයුතු සැලසුම් කර ඇත. සීගිරිය සංචාරක කලාපය ප්‍රවර්ධනය කිරීමේ අරමුණින් සංවිධානය කරන ලද එම අංගම්පොර සංදර්ශනය 26/12/2024 දින පෙ.ව. 9.30 ට සීගිරිය බටහිර දොරටුව අසල පැවැත්වීමට සැලසුම් කර ඇත. ඒ සඳහා අප හා එක් වන ලෙස ඔබ සැමට ගෞරවයෙන් ආරාධනා කරමු.

The 1st National Sustainable Tourism Conference 2024 (NSTC-2024) organized jointly by the Department of Trade, Commerce and Tourism, Central Province and the Department of Geography, University of Peradeniya was held on 17th December at the Department of Geography, University of Peradeniya.
The abstract book related to the tourism industry of Sri Lanka with special reference to the Central Province, paving new paths for the development of the Central Province tourism industry, was launched on that day.
The Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony was the Chief Secretary of the Central Province, G.H. M. Premasinghe was represented by the Deputy Chief Secretary Secretary, Mrs. Dillipa Rupani Piyadasa, while the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, Mr. Terence Madujith, participated as the guest of honor. As well as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and the panel of lecturers, Prof.D.A.C. Silva at the Department of Economics, University of Colombo for conducting the keynote speech of the inauguration, the Provincial Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture, Divisional Secretaries, Professor M.S.M. Aslam from University of Sabaragamuwa and many government officials were participated on this occation.

මධ්‍යම පළාත් සංචාරක කර්මාන්තයේ උන්නතිය උදෙසා නවමු මංපෙත් විවර කරමින් ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සංචාරක කර්මාන්තයට අදාලව සිදු කරන ලද පර්යේෂණ සංක්ශිප්ත වාර්තා ඇතුළත් ග්‍රන්ථය එදින එළිදැක්විනි.
මෙම සාමාරම්භක උලෙලේ ප්‍රධාන ආරාධිත අමුත්තා ලෙස මධ්‍යම පළාත් ප්‍රධාන ලේකම් ජී.එච්. එම්. ඒ ප්‍රේමසිංහ මහතා නියෝජනය කරමින් මධ්‍යම පළාත් සහකාර ප්‍රධාන ලේකම් දිලීපා රූපානී පියදාස මහත්මිය සහභාගි වූ අතර විශේශ අමුත්තෙකු ලෙස පේරාදෙණිය විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ උපකුලපති ටෙරන්ස් මදුජිත් මහතා සහභාගී වූ අතර කලා පීඨයේ පීඨාධිපති ඇතුළු ආචාර්ය මණ්ඩලය, මෙම සාමාරම්භක උලෙලේ ප්‍රධාන දේශනය සිදු කල කොළඹ විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ ආර්ථික විද්‍යා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ මහාචාර්ය ඩී.ඒ.සී සිල්වා මහතා පළාත් කෘෂිකර්ම අමාත්‍යාංශ ලේකම් ඇතුළු ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම් වරුන් රැසක්ද, සබරගමුව විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ මහාචාර්ය එම්.එස්.එම්. අස්ලාම් මහතා සහ රජයේ නිලධාරීන් රැසක් සහභාගී විය.

Heel Oya Tourism Hospitality Village
A hamlet well over 2,000 years old- cloistered in the Dumbara valley with a rich agricultural heritage which had the royal stamp. Historians claim the paddy lands here were bequeathed to the Bambaragala Cave Temple by the kings who ruled in the 2nd or 3rd century BC. King Kirthi Sri Rajasinghe developed a network of water canals to irrigate the land with water from the Black Water Pool, a hidden waterfall which is close to the village. The ruins of an ancient granary which belonged to Bambaragala are still in the village as testimony to these royal links. Knuckles Bio-Diversity awareness program

The Department of Trade, Commerec and Tourism in Central Province held an awareness program for Knuckles Bio diversity on 12.09.2024 in conjunction with the World Tourism Day on 2024.09.27 at Wattegama Madhya Maha Vidyalaya in Pathadumbara division. The awareness program was held for the students of Grade 8 and 9 students from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. For this program, Pathadumbara Divisional Secretary Mrs. S.N.K. Serasinghe, Mr. Tilak Bandara, Principal of Wattegama Madhya Maha Vidyalaya, Mr. R.K. Gamini Ratnayake, Assistant Director of Pathadumbara Divisional Secretariat were participated. Also, resource person Mr. Gamini Jayatissa, Director, Gafet, Ms. Manjula Divelgama of the College of Agriculture, Mr. G. Basgaran, the moderator, Ms. Manimekhala Seneviratne, the Development Officer and a group of school students participated in this event.

මද්‍යම පළාත් වෙලද, වාණිජ හා සංචාරක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් 2024.09.27 ලෝක සංචාරක දිනයට සමගාමීව 2024.09.12 දින පාතදුම්බර කොට්ඨාශයේ වත්තේගම මධ්‍යම මහා විද්‍යාලයේදී පෙ.ව. 9.00 සිට ප.ව. 12.00 දක්වා නකල්ස් ජෛව විවිධත්වය පිලිබද 8,9 වසර වල සිසුන් දැනුවත් කිරීමේ වැඩසටහනක් පවත්වන ලදී. මෙම වැඩසටහන සදහා පාතදුම්බර ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම් එස්.එන්.කේ. සේරසිංහ මහත්මිය, වත්තේගම මධ්‍යම මහා විද්‍යාලයේ විදුහල්පති තිලක් බණ්ඩාර මහතා, පාතදුම්බර ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම් කාර්‍යාලයේ සහකාර අධ්‍යක්ෂ ආර්.කේ. ගාමිණී රත්නායක මහතා සහභාගී විය. තවද, මෙම අවස්ථාව සදහා සම්පත්දායකත්ව්යෙන් නොමද සහයෝගයක් ලබා දුන්ග ෆෙට් ආයතනයේ අධ්යක්ෂ ගාමිණී ජයතිස්ස මහතා, කෘශිකර් ම විද්‍යාපීඨයේ මංජුලා දිවෙල්ගම මිය, නිවේදන කටයුතු සදහා දායකත්වය ලබා දුන් ජී.බාස්ගරන් මහතා, සංවර්ධන නිලධාරී මණිමේඛලා සෙනෙවිරත්න මිය ඇතුලු පිරිසක්ද පාසැල් සිසුන් පිරිසක්ද සහභාගී විය.

World Tourism Day 2024
World Tourism Day is commemorated annually on 27 September to foster awareness among the international community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political, and economic value. Tourism can contribute to the SDGs: through quality tourism training, which invests in education and skills; by investing in sustainable infrastructure and accelerating green transformation, including opportunities to decarbonize the sector and promote climate-resilient infrastructure; and through investing in innovation technology, and entrepreneurship that can upskill tourism’s workforce.
The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) designated the Day in September 1979, with the commemoration to commence in 1980. This date commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the UNWTO Statutes on 27 September 1970.

සංචාරක ව්‍යාපාරයේ වැදගත්කම සහ එහි සමාජ, සංස්කෘතික, දේශපාලනික සහ ආර්ථික වටිනාකම පිළිබඳව ජාත්‍යන්තර ප්‍රජාව දැනුවත් කිරීම සඳහා ලෝක සංචාරක දිනය වාර්ෂිකව සැප්තැම්බර් 27 දින සමරනු ලැබේ. අධ්‍යාපනය සහ කුසලතා සඳහා ආයෝජනය කරන ගුණාත්මක සංචාරක පුහුණුව හරහාත්, තිරසාර යටිතල පහසුකම් සඳහා ආයෝජනය ඇතුළු හරිත පරිවර්තනය වේගවත් කිරීම හරහාත් සංචාරක කර්මාන්තයේ ශ්‍රම බලකාය ඉහළ නැංවිය හැකි නවෝත්පාදන තාක්ෂණය සහ ව්‍යවසායකත්වය සඳහා ආයෝජනය කිරීම හරහාත් සංචාරක ව්‍යාපාරය තිරසර සංවර්ධන අභිමතාර්ථ හා එම ඉලක්ක ඉටු කර ගනීම සදහා දායක වේ.
ලෝක සංචාරක සංවිධානය (UNWTO) විසින් 1979 වර්ශයේදී සැප්තැම්බර් 27 වන දින ලෝක සංචාරක දිනය ලෙස නම් කරන ලදී. මෙම දිනය 1970 සැප්තැම්බර් 27 වන දින UNWTO ප්‍රඥප්තිය සම්මත කිරීමේ සංවත්සරය සමරයි.

2024.09.27 ලෝක සංචාරක දිනය ට සමගාමීව අකුරණ ප්‍රාදේශිය ලේකම් කාර්යාලයේ ප්‍රාදේශිය ලෙක්ම් තුමිය කාර්යමන්ඩලයේ නිලධාරීන්ගේ සහයෝගයෙන් 2024.09.12 වන දින අකුරණ මානාගල මහාවිහාරයේදී ශ්‍රමදානයක් පවත්වන ලදී.

In conjunction with the World Tourism Day 2024.09.27, the Shramadana program was held at Akurana Managala Mahavihara on 12.09.2024 with the support of the officers of the Akurana Regional Secretariat at Managala Maha Vihara in Akurana.
