Irrigation Engineer ,Kanthale whose office is located by the side of the Kanthale reservoir ,covers the area of three major tanks namely Kanthale , Vandrasen , Wan- ela and one medium tank ,called Peramaduwa.The total extent under these schemes is 22,530 acres. Mahaweli water feeds Kanthale and Vandrasan tank through Minneriya –Kanthale –Yodha Ela (MKYE)

The command area of Kanthale c

omes under three DSS divisions namely Kanthale Thampalakamam and Kinniya whereas the command area of the all other tanks are in Kanthale DS division. It is interesting to note that Peramadu tank falls under the Madirigiriya DS division in Polonnaruwa District and irrigable area under DS ,Kanthale division
