It's known for its ability to change colors, especially during the breeding season when males exhibit vibrant hues. These diurnal lizards are arboreal and often found in trees or bushes. They have long tails, slender bodies, and a crest of spines along the back of their neck. Their diet consists of insects and small vertebrates. These lizards are adaptable and can thrive in various habitats, from urban areas to forests.

Travellers who stay in Kataragama use Katagamuwa entrance as it is only 10 kms to Katagamuwa entrance.
