The first day of the 2026 HNB Scholarship Programme, received by Caritas Janasaviya through the Caritas National Centre, was held on 10th May 2026 at the SEDEC Institute. This special opportunity was granted to 25 children from low-income families in the Diocese of Chilaw. The programme was conducted under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Dilan Marius Fernando, Director, with the support of the HNB institution and the participation of the staff members. During the programme, Rev. Fr. Dilan Marius Fernando, Director, encouraged the students to make their lives successful through the scholarship they receive and to invest in the future generation.

The 57th SEDEC Day Celebration was held at Bolawatta Deanery with the participation of the National Director of Caritas Sri Lanka–SEDEC, Very Rev. Fr. Patrick Wijesinghe, Director of Caritas Chilaw, former Directors of SEDEC, Grama Niladhari Officers, SEDEC staff Members, a resource person, and SEDEC Society members. The event celebrated 57 years of dedicated service to community development, social justice, and human dignity. It provided an opportunity to reflect on SEDEC's achievements, recognize the contributions of past and present leaders, and strengthen all stakeholders' commitment to continue serving vulnerable communities through unity, compassion, and sustainable development.

Caritas Chilaw joyfully celebrated our New Year festival with fun games, cheerful moments, and a wonderful gathering of our community. Winners were awarded prizes, adding excitement to the celebration. It was a small but truly meaningful and memorable event filled with unity and happiness. We are grateful for everyone who participated and made this festival a success. Looking forward to celebrating even bigger and better in the coming years!
