🌱🚀 COMMENCEMENT OF THE RURAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT & DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION PROGRAM – MAHA OYA REGION 🚀🌱
Today marks the successful commencement of a significant initiative aimed at empowering rural entrepreneurs through digital transformation and innovation.
The Industry Digital Academy of the Industrial Development Board (IDB), in collaboration with FITIS (Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka), the Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka, and the IDB Ampara Regional Office, launched the first day of the Rural Entrepreneurship Development & Digital Transformation Program for 50 Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (MSMEs) representing the Maha Oya Region.
📍 DAY 1 – Digital Presence Setup & Social Media Foundations
Participants engaged in practical, hands-on learning sessions covering:
✅ Digital Marketing Basics for SMEs
✅ Facebook Business Page Creation
✅ Product Uploading & Facebook Shop Setup
✅ Instagram Business Integration
✅ Business Manager Fundamentals
✅ WhatsApp Business Setup
✅ Interactive Q & A Sessions
This initiative represents a pivotal step towards strengthening Sri Lanka’s rural economy by equipping entrepreneurs with the knowledge, tools, and confidence required to establish a strong digital presence, connect with wider markets, and unlock new business opportunities.
As the country moves towards a digitally enabled future, empowering rural entrepreneurs with digital skills remains a key priority in bridging the digital divide and fostering sustainable economic growth.
